Bowen on his way back?

Post#1 » by Marc » Fri Jul 31, 2009 10:20 pm

http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... milwaukee/

The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on guard/forward Bruce Bowen and guard Salim Stoudamire, General Manager John Hammond announced today.

Bowen was acquired from San Antonio on June 23 as part of the three-team trade that also brought the Bucks Kurt Thomas from San Antonio and Amir Johnson from Detroit. Richard Jefferson was sent to San Antonio while Fabricio Oberto went to Detroit to complete the trade.

Do you think he will come back?

Return To Spurs Unlikely For Bowen

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... for_bowen/

Bruce Bowen was waived on Friday by the Bucks in a cost-saving move.

A return to the Spurs is highly unlikely but contenders such as Orlando, Cleveland and Boston have been mentioned as potential suitors for Bowen.

A source told Yahoo! that Bowen will contemplate retirement.

I've read it a few hrs ago. Kinda unfortunate yet understandable considering Bowen's age. If he feels that he's better off callin it a career, it's his decision. At least he made a career knockin down crucial 3balls and gettin into ppl's grills on defense. Can't get any better than that from Bowen.

It would break my heart to see Bruce Bowen play for another team. The Spurs could use him to solidify the perimeter defense and mentor Malik.

I hope he retires over going to another team.

Do you think Bowen will get his number retired by the Spurs?. Based on the fact that Johnson's number was retired, I can imagine all the numbers for Manu, Parker, Duncan (LOL) and Bowen retired.

He isn't going to be back... We have 15 guys on the roster.

Bonner + Mahinmi should be traded for a center or a 3rd pg.

Trading Booner + Mahinmi for Atkins to be bought out would make sense but i am not sure if Wolves would do it because they want to save money too.

Apparently he's choosing between Boston or Cleveland.

I wish him well wherever he ends up. One of my all-time favorite Spurs.

Atkins would be bought out. He has a 800K buyout i think. Then, Spurs could sign Bowen and they save more than $6M (including luxury tax).

Honestly i'd rather just keep Bonner and Ian, they have much more value than Bowen.

I think Boston would be the best fit for him. He'd get regular minutes and play a vital role for them off the bench.

I hope Bowen retires and get his jersey in the rafters. We could not have won all those championships without his ninja kicks and grab assin'.

“I’ve given him no such indication,’’ Popovich said. “He might come back with the right team in the right situation, but it’s probably not going to be San Antonio.’’

**** that. Bowen deserves more respect. If there is no roster space there should be a trade or we could just fire Williams. Bruce has to come back...

I also think Bowen should have his jersey retired and he's done enough to get more respect from the Spurs. IMO, he should always be welcomed back. He's still got something to offer. Heck, even as a locker room presence and a mentor to the young kids.
