OT: Dispersal draft help
Dcash and all,
Need quick opinion - for LA pick in dispersal draft (any one player from the contracted Sac, Min, NO, Char, LAC or Mem, not already taken)
From who is left - Does LA go with a rookie for the future (HThabeet, JFlynn, GHenderson), a young player w. experience (Augustine, Thornton, Felton, Garcia), an expiring vet (like Raja Bell, Rasual Butler) or eff the cap/tax and take a big name big $ guy (Baron, TyChandler)
Thoughts?

Re: OT: Dispersal draft help
You're kidding right?
When teams come into the league or fold they have a dispersal draft so players from those teams can be picked up by other teams in a Fair manner - not crazy FA to the highest bidder stuff.. So when the Heat, Magic, Twolves etc came into the league they got to draft off of other teams to fill their rosters - or when the ABA merged into the NBA, the players off of the teams folding were selected by the current NBA teams.

I heard of expansion drafts but I don't think I have seen a teams fold like that.

Get a point guard, preferably someone not too old IMO. I'd get Flynn or Felton.

Re: OT: Dispersal draft help
Flynn it is... and on a rookie deal
The only other real one I was thinking was Thabeet (as Bynum insurance) but he could easily be a huge Shawn Bradley-esqe bust and LA already has Bynum and Gasol for a while to hold it down.

Well Im pretty sure this is total fantasy here but DJ would be my answer. Felton is a really bad shooter. DJ is a lights out shooter.

Solid pick. If you include salary, he's kind of a no brainer IMO since we are top 10 at every position except PG where we are bottom 5 in the league.

Yes a no brainer if you have no brain. J/K.
Flynn is a pg who went 5th in the weakest draft in history. Never played, could be a total bust. He is also on a rookie contract as a 5th player so DJ is cheaper and he is proven he is gonna be a real good player. Either you guys will say I am being a Bobcats homer but the truth is I am being objective and not talking about my a'** because I have seen him play alot.
Im am not saying no matter what it's DJ (he is who I would pick) but to call Flynn a no brainer or to even pick him I think is off.

Re: OT: Dispersal draft help
Well. Augustin is a good pick too, not debating that.
You might be right about Flynn and no-brainer being a bit too much, but I do think picking a young PG on a rookie scale is a no brainer with our team since we have time to let them develop and already are stacked at every other position.

tkb yes a pg with a low contract is a no brainer. I would say DJ is a no brainer but im just trying to avoid the Bobcats jokes. The fact of the matter is though he really is.
You can make an arguement for Thorton though if you really wanted to but it would be complicated.

Re: OT: Dispersal draft help
i would go with johnny flynn. truth is a player like flynn will be evaluated higher than augustin in the type of game you're in simply because he was picked so high and is still so full of potential.

If you logic is Flynn go 5th DJ go 9th Flynn better.
If you actually think about it for longer then that or have seen either guy play you realize,
DJ-Went 9th in a very deep draft. A draft were Brook Lopez went 10th. If DJ came out in this weak draft he would have went higher.
If Flynn came out in the strong draft he would have gone at best 11th-20th.
The team that picked Flynn doesn't even have that much hype for him, who was the other player they picked? Ricky Rubio! That's who they think there future pg is.
You know this is just something that ill just have to wait to say I told you so in a couple months.
Just think about this, in good draft years there are a ton of William Avery's and pg's drafted high like Daniels who never live up to the hype. Flynns hype is not even big, hes not expected to be some superstar and you would take him before he has played a game over DJ who is obviously got game, who when was healthy tore up Derrick Rose this year only made rookie 2nd team cause of that injury and has shown he has right below star potential, can obviously run a team and can score at will.
No gm is taking Flynn here, trust me.

Hope no team is in that bad of shape. Even the clippers are not that bad money wise.
