As the title says, when you hear superman which player comes to your mind first?

Has anybody EVER thought Shaq when they heard Superman? He always loved superman but never really had it as his nickname.

Howard can fly. Shaq can not. Shaq just likes the movies and smallville. Howard has earned it.

Shaq is the orginal user of this term in Basketball setting. Howard stole it, and I think this is one of the reasons Shaq is so pissssed at Howard, as he should be, get your own persona Howard :evil:

BS...Put 30 year old Shaq against any year that D-Howard plays...it won't be close. Shaq will destroy Howard. He won't have to fly, he'll go right through him.

Exactly. Shaq's shtick has wore out his welcome but that's made people forget he's (arguably) the most dominant offensive force of all time. He's too strong for Dwight. Vintage Shaq was unstoppable. They changed the rules, because of him.

Dwight is a pale comparison (offensively) to the big fella.

Shaq is synonymous with Superman to me.

I hate to disagree with all of you but it's not who is better Shaq or Howard it's Superman Howard or Shaq.

Shaq was the Diesel and the big Arastotle but I have never seen a highlight and somebody calling Shaq superman. It wasn't him. He was always just a fan of the movies and smallville. He always wanted the nickname obviously but it never caught on. People made jokes like what is kryptonite his toe?

Howard flies in the dunk contest and the nickname sticks.

Howard's nickname makes sence, he can fly and he is probably the strongest guy in the league. It just fits no matter how better Shaq's resume is.

stardex - listen. Dwight Howard was 8 years old when this photo was taken. Notice the tat on the left shoulder. He has the S logo on his cars. Shaq has been the NBA Superman all along - including when he was also the 'Diesel' and the 'Big Whatever'.

Does it mean that Babe Ruth is not the "Babe" because he was also called the 'Sultan of Swat' and the 'Bambino'? Just because another Babe came along?

If you notice I haven't been opening up threads or writing essays or doing the annoying things people hated me so much for so do me a favor and stop judging me on my past. Turning over a new leaf but this is the second time you came at me for my past.

I think i gave a legit reason why Howard's nickname makes alot more sence and it's got nothing to do with me hating him.

u must've not watched shaq when he was with orlando..the guy was a beast!!!!

Do you know how commen that tat is? Nobody I know called him that. He was known for being obsessed with superman but that's different. And why is anybody taking this personal. This is nuts.

Maybe if Shaq didn't have so many other nicknames that people called him maybe.
My wife doesn't know bball but she knows Howard and she knows him as Superman. That dunk contest gave him that name. Sorry it's just my opinion.

You guys are not getting me. I know Shaq was way better of a player. I took the question is who should have the superman nickname? Since you guys think Im saying Howard is a better player when Im not Im saying the nickname makes more sence for Howard im just gonna say we have to agree to disagree.
And I saw Shaq in Orlando alot. Ill never forget those years. Those years, teams, players are implanted in my brain from my childhood. Every detail.
