I think we have a very good chance of sweeping the Royals. With Beltre coming back from injury I think it's about time our offense fired up a bit!

Go M's!!

Ha, I think we posted these threads at about the same time. Hopefully it's just the intangible we need for a sweep.

Not only did we win a series opener, but we scored 7 runs, got 8 hits from our 6-9 hitters, and a scoreless inning from Batista.

And this is the first day we've gained a game on the Angels since July 17th.

It certainly felt like that. But to actually see the fact of that date is a bit eye opening. That's going on three weeks without a day where we won, and they lost.

What a difference having Beltre, Wilson, and Johjima vs Hannahan, Cedeno, and Johnson makes in the lineup. Lost in the Wash trade is that we have one less starter who has to have Rob catching for him. Now if we can just get Saunders hitting, Griffey benched and Carp brought back up, we'd have an entire lineup hitting over .250.

While we're at it, let's do a little player comparison.

Player Avg OBP Slg
Player A .239 .293 .370
Player B .221 .330 .395
Player C .231 .333 .400

Player A is Mike Sweeney
Player B is Ken Griffey Jr.
Player C is ... Ryan Langerhans??

DH has been killing us all season, so why isn't Shelton or Carp or even Adam Moore up here playing DH?

The M's offense is coming alive! 11 runs through 7 innings.

Anyone see that run Jack Wilson created off the Rob Johnson double? Great baserunning, great slide...something we NEVER saw from our last shortstop. Wilson's just enough of a hitter to be entertaining.

Yeah, I've become a pretty big fan of Wilson. He's a pretty good hitter that knows what hes doing up there at the plate, and he's just a smart ballplayer. That bunt and then run scored was terrific.

Playing the Royals is nice too.

Was hoping for more out of French, but oh well. He couldn't locate at all.

Seeing some nice production from the bottom of the order. It was pretty dismal there for awhile.

Losing to Chen is embarrassing.

With the way the offense has smacked the ball around in KC, I thought the sweep was inevitable. Chen hadn't won since 2005??
