New York signing Williams in order to trade him sounds illogical. This article is from yesterday, so tomorrow is today. Then Ainge could negotiate with Williams now.

I've a feeling that New York will eventually sign Sessions based on the latest news that they could attempt to trade Curry or Jeffries in order to free up more salary for next year. Perhaps then, they'll complete a deal with Sessions.

New York is also working out Stackhouse so I think they're just deciding on various options at this point.

I would rather have Tinsley but Williams might be the safer pick if Boston is on his list of preferred teams. Like New York, I believe Ainge would only offer him a one-year deal as well.

The Knicks have exclusive negotiating rights until tomorrow. "But that doesn't mean anything," Walsh said. Walsh said Williams will visit other teams. There's been speculation the Knicks could try to sign him in order to trade him.

Walsh said Williams is not necessarily being viewed as a backup.

"A guy who has started his whole career shouldn't be called a backup," Walsh said.

However, the Knicks want to sign Williams to a one-year deal, which could hurt their cause. Walsh said the team's interest in Williams is not related to their Ramon Sessions bid. It's possible the Knicks are using Williams to force Sessions into taking their long-term offer, which starts at less than the $5.8 million mid-level that Sessions seeks. "We're still talking," Walsh said.

Not sure why anyone would offer Williams more than one year. Maybe a 2nd year team option, but nothing else.

If the team that signs him isn't New York, might it be Orlando or Memphis? Orlando would make the most sense.

Orlando

Nelson and Anthony Johnson

Memphis

Mayo, Conley Jr., Marcus Williams and Jaric

Why do the Griz want him? They just brought in Marcus Williams and still have Conley.

I could see JWill signing with the Magic, but I'd rather he come to Boston.
:curse:

Return to Boston Celtics
