QBs Green Dots
Anybody know for certain what the green dots on all QBs helmets are?
I'm guessing antennae for helmet mike, but just a guess.

Yes they do, but I would like to see one of the defensive captains with this as well. They have to look to the sideline for the next play and there are plenty of times when they can't hear.
They brought this up during offseason meetings and the idea was shot down. It'll be interesting to see if the proposal gets second life due to Spygate.

Defensive players getting a radio set is too complicated. If you give it to a linebacker, what if he has to come out of the game in a nickel or dime package?
If given too a defensive back, what happens when teams go in the jumbo formations and the certain DB isn't a part of the package?
What if the defensive player has fatigue?
Too many limitations.

Dont blow your brain up thinking of reasons not to have it.
Players will benefit from this even if it's only used on a hand full of plays during the game. I still believe it's only fair to have one defensive player with this, so the coach would need to choose wisely, and certain changes should apply if a player has to leave the game due to an injury.

If the player with the helmet isn't on the field for whatever reason, they can just call defense like they always have. But how often is a player like Keith Brooking or Brian Urlacher off the field?

the competition committe need 24 votes to pass the resolution allowing one defensive player to have a receiver.
only 22 said yes. that was sort of the whole reason for the hype surrounding spygate. they vote again next may- and after spygate- the league is hoping to get the necessary votes.
with the receivers- there would be no more reason for the defensive- hand signals

And you have to think, only one defensive player ON The field can have it on, so if say Brian Urlacher comes out, and is replaced by a DB(just in example, it never happens) then that DB that comes in can have the green dot in the helmet. Or to complicate things, you can switch helmets which is technically allowed which is what they would have to do in those plays Atlanta use to run where they put Vick as a reciever or something and Schaub in the pocket. Vick would have to wear a helmet without the green dot.
But that's complicated.
But that's complicated.
