Download Fat Princess if you haven't. Do it now.

We should get some games going.

Is there a demo? I'd love to try it out. I suppose I can look myself, but I'm too lazy.

I was going to ask you about it, DB, so I'm glad you started the thread. Is it going to be impossible to play without a headset? I got by playing R2 just fine without one. I really wouldn't be opposed to one if I was playing with a bunch of people I know, but I hate 10 year olds talking like doorknobs and yelling at people like they're Hitler.

I was really thinking about getting it, but I'm hopeful for Madden this year after playing the demo, so I didn't know if I'd get much use out of it starting next Friday.

Search consumerist.com for Madden. I saw a post there about how to buy it for $24. It involves ordering and then canceling a subscription to SI. Or just order the subscription for $50 and keep it, and Madden.

I guess I won't be much help either way. I don't know if there's a demo or not. It was only $15 and after reading about it and seeing some footage I figured it was a safe bet that I'd like it.

As for the headset, that's something I'd like to know as well. I'm not much of an an online gamer so prior to this game I'd never had the need for a set. Hell, I've only had FP for two nights now and I've yet to play online; I think it's still a blast in single player.

But I've heard that it's tough to connect right now because of lag. Some people have had success, others haven't. Titan Studios said their working a fix right now.

I will be getting a head set tomorrow and giving it a shot. I'll let you know how it goes.

But the humor, the unique gameplay, the awesome visuals and the mayhem and I think it's worth the $15 for single player alone, and that's knowing it's definitely more for online play.

I have a headset and you really don't need one to play most games. I normally play COD4 which having a headset is nice but not necessary, I normally don't turn in unless I am playing with friends that I want to talk to. It all depends on the game if your going to play Socom or Warhawk I'd suggest you get one. To get one all you need is any normal bluetooth headset that works with cell phones. I got one cheap for like $15.

Huh, I didn't even know that it was a single-player aspect to it. I'll check it out.

adam, I post at a site called CheapAssGamer, which covers pretty much every gaming deal on the planet, so I've heard about that deal. Thanks for lookin' out, though. Given everything that goes with the deal, the fine print and all of that (the game taked 6-8 weeks to arrive, and you have to pay $1.75 for all of the issues until then), it's really not worth it to me considering I couldn't care less about SI. Toys R' Us is running a deal where you get a $15 gift card when you buy the game. Considering TRU usually has pretty good gaming deals and a gift card wouldn't be too hard to spend there, I think that's the route I'll end up going, personally.

If you want to read more about the SI deal, here's a link: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/sho ... p?t=232652

DB, keep me posted.

Socom Confrontation is the buggiest socom of the franchise. They even have false advertisement right out of the package. They had to add achievements and built in clan ladder in a patch like 6 months or so later. lol Besides can barely shoot out windows without hitting the window sill also shooting down over railings is very bad. Also the armor on the game was lame. Plus they still didnt release a map pack yet. While many other shooters that came out months after this already on second or third map pack. :x

SOCOM is somehow the most played online game for the PS3, even bigger than Killzone 2. SOCOM has some loyal followers.

I have FP as well and I am loving it. They need to get a patch out quick because online is buggy as hell. I get in games here and there, but kicked back to the main screen for the most part.

You do not need a headset, but it sure helps. You can do OK with the game doing your own thing, but if you can get a team together and work well with one another you can dominate. This is a game that will reward people for good teamwork because it's easier to win as a team.

The game is just an outright blast to play. The graphics are really cool, the game has an awesome style, the classes are all fun to play with, the game has an amazing amount of depth for a D/L title and it's just friggin fun.

DB, I am going to add you tonight and we could get a game in whenever you would like. Of course the forthcoming patch will help to actually get in online games, but that should come shortly.

EDIT: And as an aside... the game is similar in style to Castle Crashers which is currently on Xbox live. Instead of linear levels it's team based multi-player (obviously). I don't think it's a stretch to say that if you loved Castle Crashers, you will love Fat Princess.

Yea late last night I tried to get in an online game and couldn't. I'll pick up a headset after work and give it another go but I'm not optimistic.

I could easily see ways to dominate if I played with some good teammates. I think as of now I'm pretty good with all the classes.

Have you played much soccer? Great mindless fun. A worker with bombs + priest = thousands and thousands of points in minutes. Just lob bombs into the mob and watch the body parts fly. I love it.

I only briefly played soccer and it was, as you said, mindless fun. Rumor is that they will be adding more sports as time goes on. Lets get some Fat Princess Basketball in here.

What is your favorite/least favorite class

I love the Priest, Warrior and Builder. The ranger is meh and I'm not a huge fan of the Mage. The great part is even the classes I don't like all the much are still fun to play with. Just not as much fun as my 3 favorites.

I spend most of the time as a Worker doing upgrades and building catapults. I love the bombs too if you can find a spot where enemy traffic is funneled and high. I like the Mage with ice capabilities if I'm with a group of Warriors. Freeze a large group of enemies and let the Warriors clean up. Priest is obviously awesome. I really have little use for rangers. Warriors with the sword are good if I'm going for a quick attack or I need to defend something. I'd say my favorites would go:

1 - Worker with bombs

2 - Priest

3 - Mage with Ice
4 - Warrior with the sword

5 - Ranger with the shotgun

I just feel like the Ice spell comes off as weak at times. It's like you freeze people for a second at most and they busting out right away. Maybe I am not charging it enough. Damn, you got me in the mood to leave work and go play this now.

By the way, I said this on the Media board but the audio is hilarious.

I love when the old narrator says in a concerned voice, "They're in our base! Killing our dudes!"

The taunts are awesome. "Victory is Mine!" and "Frakkin' Toaster" had me rolling.

Yea, I generally let it charge for a good five-seven seconds, hit the group with a freeze, retreat and repeat.

I don't play as them often but it's reasonably effective when I do.

Motorola blutooth headsets are great for ps3. Also ps2 headset does work with Socom Confrontation. But doesnt seem to work with other shooters like call of duty series.

Also "We're getting ganked!" Never thought I'd hear someone with an English accent say that.

The funniest thing I have seen is in a match where I focused on making the princess fat, feeding her cake after cake. After a while a text box popped up like it was a conversation between the two princesses. It said "Oh my, I am starting to look like those girls in rap videos"... I lol'd.

I sold mine on EBAY. I only bought it for Socom Confrontation. Didnt have much of anything else that appealed to me other then MAG. Besides I already have alot of 360 games.
