Who would?

Post#1 » by eyejayem » Thu Aug 6, 2009 3:35 pm

Looking at Knicks trying to clear another contract: I thought I may take a look at this if we are going to start looking at clearing cap for 2011. And possibly have enough cap to offer another contract then. So would we be willing to do a trade along the lines of:

Cavs Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Jawad Williams, Darnell Jackson, cash(for buy out)

Knicks David Lee(3 yr deal starting 8mil), Jared Jeffries, and 2nd rd pick

Z doesnt fit so he will likely be bought out and return to Cavs.

Cavs

Mo/ Boobie
Delonte/ Anthony Parker/ Danny Green
Lebron/ Jamarion Moon/ Jared Jeffries
Anderson Varajao/ David Lee/ JJ Hickson
Shaquille Oneal/ Zydrunas Ilgauskas

Our team and depth are rediculous. We already can't sign a max free agent in 2010 according to reports but maybe we can do a S&T around a double-double guy whose salary is less than 10mil.

I have to ask, why on earth would New York buy Z out? What possible motivation would they have to do that? They are in DESPERATE need of a center, particularly with Lee gone who is the closest thing they have to a center currently, they have absolutely no motivation to tank whatsoever as Utah already have their 2010 lotto pick so they want to win as much as possible, and Z is an expiring anyway meaning he doesn't interfere with their 2010 FA plans.

I'd be shocked beyond belief if the Knicks handed the Cavs a present like that, Z would be wearing a Knicks uni if this deal went down imo.

They have Darko now withthe QRich deal, And EddyCurry lost 50lbsthis summer and is supposedly fit and Dantoni is liking it so they have two 7-footers legit centers.

Plus buying out Z would save them money. I think thats plenty of motivation. Not that I want to take on ared effries contract by any means.

With those two at their absolute peaks they don't have 1 legit center. Z would be the best center on their roster by a very, very long way if this deal was made and they actually want to win this season while not dipping into the 2010 fund - Z would be a dream come true for them.

Sorry but I dont see Z fitting into D'antoni's run and gun style. Curry at least has a chance because he is young. But aother stipulation to the trade could be that they cut Z.

They would buy him out if you send 3mil like that + also buy a 2nd rounder for 3mil, that's the only way. And there's no way the Cav's take on Jefferies.

Don't think the Knicks would do that. I would be okay with that deal, if we didn't have to take on Jeffries.

Me personally, I would just wait until next year and pick-up Al Harrington, and I don't live by any NO KNICK RULE. If they can play I'm all in.

I dont think they just send Lee without getting something out of it. They want to either trade lee with Curry or Jeffries or trade him to the highest bidder at the trade deadline.

I'd consider it. Though I hate Jared Jeffries and his contract is atrocious.

No way.

David Lee really doesn't fit well here.

I mean, he's made a name as a great energy guy off the bench, then last year blew up statistically under D'Antoni.

Too many red flags, I don't think he'd produce enough here to warrant 8 million a year and eating Jeffries' contract, and Varejao is an infinitely better defender.

He was a double double guy before D'antoni even thought about going to NY. His statistics didnt dramatically improve.

Yeah, I dont get why so many ppl think he is a creation of D'Antoni. He has been their best player since he got there imo. Lee would fit here just fine, and as so many ppl here like to say how Lebron makes other players better, why wouldnt that apply to Lee as well?
