Re: Sign Brian Skinner
I agree that Lou is better than Skinner, but Skinner is bigger and a Center, where Lou is a PF[/quote]
--- Right, which was the point of the whole discussion, that what we lacked and SSOL teams had prior, is a wideboy defender/rebounder who can shoot form top of the key, elbow etc on offense and doesn't need to play down low and clog the paint.
Skinner is KT lite, very lite to be honest, but he can do the job and KT is just too old from all reports.
I don't recall Skinner jacking too many shots - I know he did have to shoot enough to keep the defense honest, and KT was a better spot-up shooter than Skinny.
All that said, I think Lou has the balls and determination to go up against anyone. Not that he'll win but I doubt he backs down. It's just that he doesn't have that step-away game that helps our offense.
He's sure in the right place to learn it, though

As a vancouver guy I've been rooting for Stro since he was drafted and he just has never capitalized on his talent. I'm with Mary on this - unless there's some real indication Stro has upped his game and really wants to do something, pass. There were a number of bigs in summer league we could pick up who would do as much and might conceivably blossom.
Really a shame - Stro's a lovely guy and a great talent, but just never had the hunger
You speak as though Stromile has ever had a legit opportunity. He was a second overall pick, yet he's started only 97 of 547 career games. This for a Vancouver franchise that was in desperate need in everything that Swift brings to the table... aggression on both ends of the court.
If the Suns signed Stromile he'd be their best big man on the roster... but you'd never know it because Nash doesn't pass him the ball.

Yeah, that is a foolish statement. Not that Stro doesnt have potential to be good in our system... but the best big on our team? Are you not counting Amare?

Unless we can pick up a vet who's going to mentor Fropez - Mutumbo? - why not? A couple bigs looked good at SL

Buddy, I was there, from draft day until they moved the team. As to Nash not passing him the ball, do you have nay idea how many minutes Stro actually played last season for the Suns? Very few ... there were not many opportunities to pass him the ball.

When I saw his( Mutumbo) name on the FA list, I looked up his last year stats, and wasn't impressed enough.
And can you imagine what those conversations would sound like?

I think perhaps with the judicious application of a variable band EQ we could cut some of those rumbling low frequencies and boost the mids and highs so that whatever Dikembe is saying could be understood by humans.

Re: Sign Stromile Swift
Yes, because Stromile is just as athletic, if not more so, than Amaré and can do just as much offensively, if not more -- and he's much more consistent about playing defense!rsavaj wrote:Stro would be better than Amare?
As a rookie, fresh out of highschool, Amaré started 71 games! Stromile hadn't stzrted 71 games until his 6th year in the league, when he was a Rocket! It's all about opportunity. As a rookie, Amaré got over 31 minutes a game, Swift's career high was 26.
Amaré has also benefitted by playing under Mike D'Antoni - a better NBA coach than any Swift has played for.

Re: Sign Brian Skinner
You CANNOT be serious about comparing Stro to Amare?
The guy has played on how many teams? REAL players overcome being benched/work their way into a rotation and then a starting lineup, he's had chances, face facts he ISN'T nor ever will be, the player you think he is. This isn't debateable, this is fact.
Your whole argument is nonsense when you say about Swift regarding Amare, he "can do just as much offensively, if not more"
It's a joke, and it's sad that you've invested so much emotion and hope into one player and that guy's never going to be the player he HAD (I agree - he had insane potential) the chance to be.
Good/great players work hard, play smart and their talent rises to the top, Swift hasn't and sadly, never will.
More proof? Look at his per 36mins stats - the only thing he does better than Amare is block shots

Swift and Darko are pretty much the worst #2 picks of the past 15 years
Now, have at it.
