The top under-paid and over-paid players this season

These lists are from The Wages of Wins Journal, and reflect salaries from this past season.

The first names that I'd noticed that seemingly should have had been placed on the opposite list.

7. Troy Murphy - Indiana $10.1M ($11M 2009-2010)
9. Gerald Wallace - Charlotte $8.2M ($9M 2009-2010)
10. Mike Miller - Minnesota $9M (Washington - $9.7M 2009-2010)

I wonder if in a couple of years, depending on the contract, will Rondo' name show up on the top over-paid players. But I think that only happens if he exceeds a contract such as Harris'. Hinrich's contract could set the bar... Rondo and agent might highlight his contract first as a starting point in negotiations.

I reckon you can now remove these names from this list.

2. Allen Iverson Denver-Detroit $21.9M (free agent)
7. Rasheed Wallace Detroit $13.6M (Boston - $5.8M 2009-2010)

The first name that I'd noticed that stood out the most.

18. Beno Udrih Sacramento $5.5M ($6M - 2009-2010)

I think the thing you have to take into account is that in any given year a seemingly random 4-5 guys have a career year. Its possible/and probablr Troy Murphy and co. really did play out of their minds last year, but that you can predict a fall back to earth based on past season. Conversely a guy like Wallace has put up similarly good numbers every year and could really be a good bargain.

Really, not a very good list. I agree with a little more than half of it but there are contracts in there that you really can't argue against, especially given when they were signed. How are you going to have an issue with Al Thornton making 1.7 mil?

Also, I disagree that Gerald Wallace is overpaid. Yes, he'd get a couple of mil less if he was signed this summer but the man is a top 5-6 SF in the league IMO.

Apparently because he's garbage at any price. I can see that, there are surely some NBA players who don't deserve to be in the NBA and this guy's numbers say that Thornton is one of them.

Yeah, this guy must be really dumb. If he read this board he would realize Rondo sucks a two-foot schlong. What a moron. Why don't we just give Rondo his unconditional release? We could sign Jason Williams and let him and Lester Hudson handle the point. Maybe bring smiling Gabe Pruitt back. At least they don't have Rondo's crappy attitude. They are the sort of guys you could have a beer with.

If you want to defend a guy that has Mike Miller on the most underpaid list at 9.5 million, then go ahead.

If my numbers came out like that, I'd knock the system down and start from scratch. Not one of the 30 gm's out there would've given him even 5 mil this summer. Since that is the case, the system is no good.

There are a whole bunch of bad players signed for the 1.5 - 3 million range in the last few years. He doesn't stand out as a shining example.

True. I see what you are saying. At the very least though, the Clippers should probably play him less than the 37 minutes per game he got last season.
