Tampa Bay (60-48) at Seattle (56-52)
Fri, Aug 7 - 10:10 pm EDT: Jeff Niemann (10-5, 3.62) vs Félix Hernández (12-4, 2.78)
Sat, Aug 8 - 10:10 pm EDT: Ian Snell (2-8, 5.19) vs. James Shields (6-8, 3.75)
Sun, Aug 9 - 4:10 pm EDT: Ryan Rowland-Smith (1-1, 4.22) vs. Scott Kazmir (6-6, 6.10)
This should be a good test for the M's and I just hope that our offense can keep a bit of the momentum we built up against the Royals going.

The rotations match up pretty well, the Ms have been fortunate with matchups this year as they didnt face Verlander or Jackson in Detroit. Maybe over 162 games that stuff works itself out but not facing Garza and Price this weekend cant hurt.

Wow, what a game. Not only does Griffey go deep on his bobblehead night, but we get an improbable walk-off homer.
I thought the game was over MULTIPLE times, especially after Bartlett went deep.
Proud of our guys. The defense (aka Rob Johnson) was frustrating early, but we hung around.

Re: Tampa Bay (60-48) at Seattle (56-52)
What I'm digging about the M's and their new regime this year is the degree to which they seem committed to changing the culture of the team. Though they well know that there is no substitute for talent, and that we have to build up a reservoir of new talent and realistic possibilities for being competitive in the future, they also know that you have to be as competitive as you can in the present tense. It's hard to change the culture of the team to a winning one when you only pay lip-service to the idea in the present tense. They are trying to strike a good balance between longer term goals and shorter term goals in this regard. I like that about the organization now.

I hope Snell can win his first game.

I'm leaning towards jettisoning any and all ideas of Jakubauskas or Olson amounting to much of anything for us.

Snell walking 3 of the next 4 batters after I whined about the strike zone kind of takes fuel off the fire. He really, really didn't have it tonight.

Re: Tampa Bay (60-48) at Seattle (56-52)
So, I was at the group meeting with Jack Z and Tony Blengino. I got some serious answers to questions that I had. We aren't supposed to recap everything so I'll just say a few tidbits.
Aumont is a RP to stay (and I agree with them)
Morrow is a SP to stay
Saunders was called up because there was finally a consensus that he's ready, and when they're ready you promote them.
Jack Wilson will be our SS next year

You're in like *this* man. Feed me.
Aumont not a starter? Hmmm.... Why exactly? If he's a relief pitcher, then he better be a Troy Percival, or something. Morrow a starting pitcher? Sanity prevails. Saunders? I hope he turns out to be a career .300 hitter, with a high OBP, and good in the field. Jack Wilson better be our SS next year.
Thanks for the info.

WRT Aumont...their reasoning was rather sound. I'm not at liberty to divulge any details either but it was very enlightening.
I was there too...and I think I MAY have been three seats over to your left but I wasn't entirely sure. I thought about saying 'hello' but I wasn't feeling all that well...I ended up leaving the game in the sixth inning with 'flu-like symptoms.'
BTW...WTF was it with the guy asking about gay baseball players?

Re: Tampa Bay (60-48) at Seattle (56-52)
Yeah I thought that could be you too. I sat basically behind a guy who's shirt said something about practicing polygamy?
You also had seats about ten to my left? We were row 17 in 321 seats 7 and 8.
Yes, that was strange. I told my buddy that there had to be one question that was way out there, I thought the guy in front of me was going to ask about Lincecum, he would have been boo'd out of there if he did.
The whole thing was awesome, going to the game was just icing on the cake. I'll just say this, I had no doubt going in that the M's were a top 3 ran team in baseball, I left being convinced that we have the best FO.

11-2 win to close out the series. Branyan a GS. RRS pitched very well.
