8 picks in 2 days wow this is going fast. Should I put my team in my will and start teaching my son what I want him to do in 2010s because unlike most of you guys Im getting up there in yrs and Im not so sure Ill still be alive when this thing ends.

Get the lead out, people. I'd like this to be quicker than actual seasons. I was gone most of the day and was actually foolish enough to think I might be up by now. Only to discover that 2 freaking picks had been made in my absence.

Re: Build a Dynasty General Discussion
To get in the mood I have pulled out my original Play Station and grabed my NBA IN THE ZONE 2 which covers the 95-96 season. What I love most is that MJ sucks realy bad in this game (its a Pistons fans wet dream). I also like the create a player modes which are not customized like what your used to but copies of retired players. Players like Wilt, Russell, Hondo, West, Baylor and Mikan. The graphics are realy weak for what you yougens would think but its a fun game. Chris Mullin is a complete stud in this game and doesnt miss a spot up 3.

No where near as good as Reggie in the original NBA JAM though.

Yeah, normally I'm not one for doing too much complaining about time between picks, but this game looks to be very extensive in length, I also thought with this new concept we'd all be keen to get the ball rolling Asap.

Re: Build a Dynasty General Discussion
These are supposed to be the most active members of realGm. We have to put in a 12 hour time limit and start skipping people. Its not like a GM will be ruined in what is basicly a left over draft.
By my current calculations every yr will take 3 months and that this project wont be finished before
We pick a new President
End of the World (according to the Mayans)
The London Olympics
The Cubs reach the world series
The Lions have a winning record
The Cowboys win there 8th superbowl
The Lakers and Celtics are both in the lottery
TMac gets out of the 1st rd
The Knicks win the Atlantic division
The Nets with LBJ win a title
Memphis goes into the lux tax to keep its title core together.
The Kansas City Royals, Clippers, Pirates, make the post season.
Currently we are looking at finishing this project in 2016. That will be LBJs last yr in the NBA in his prime and that we will draft in the last rd players that are currently in the 5th grade.

Putting people's names in the draft thread title when they're up might help, but yeah, this is taking way too long.

Re: Build a Dynasty General Discussion
Does anyone have contact info for eitanr? Booz, I know you're active here, could you post an e-mail address where I can reach you?
I agree that this is taking waaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. I was under the impression that the draft would be a breeze after we got going. Perhaps we should do away with the third round.
I think a 12 hour limit is too generous and we should just post a schedule that is updated each day with picks. Participants should be checking in to see the schedule/progress each day and more frequently if they'll be picking soon.
If eitanr doesn't pick within a couple of hours, we should just auto pick for him and perhaps find a new GM before the next round if we don't hear from him.

warspite, If you're around, would you pick for bringbackhoffa when he's up? Seems to make sense to have a person who has already picked select for him.

The goal is to have each season take less than a month.
The season should be less than two weeks, judging for a few days, the draft is only one round and should be finished in 2-3 days, and FA could be less than a week if we're on it.
The problem is when we have GMs who flake out for periods of time or take several hours to make a pick. If GMs are respectful to their fellow GMs and send lists/act promptly, it won't take too long.

Sabas
You know I trust you and think your doing a good job. Im just venting and feel sometimes its my job to crack the whip from time to time.
GMs
Please use me as a referance to help you make the choices your stuck on and holding things up. The best thing about this league is that there is no 1 draft or 1 trade that can sink you. Its very easy to overcome even the worst trade or draft pick. In 20 team league theres plenty of talent and most of all we have tons of cap space untill 99 or 00. In fact the best rebounder in the NBA is available in the contraction half way through the 1st rd of it.

Re: Build a Dynasty General Discussion
Bobby Phils is an excellant pick. A true up and coming player. Just keep him away from Porches, Ferraris and David Wesley. Tragicly Phills passed away in a major car crash while drag racing fellow teammate David Wesley.

Re: Build a Dynasty General Discussion
Here's an idea for the injury conundrum:
Formula to be applied if a player plays less than 80% of a season (65 or fewer games)??? We could adjust it down to 75%, but 80% made sense to me.
(games played/possible games)*MPG=injury adjusted minutes per game over a full season
ex. 1996 Jamal Mashburn
(18/82)*37.2=8.2MPG
Mash may be an extreme example, but IMO this formula is a simple and objective way to adjust a player's impact in an injured season. Jamal would essentially be relegated to a minor role off the bench in '96.
Thoughts?

Phils was a freak accident. IMO this draft should take that into account and acknowledge that in this sort of "alternate reality" he probably survives.
Of course, one could argue that he was reckless, but I bet plenty of living players are just as reckless if not more so.

Re: Build a Dynasty General Discussion
If Bobby Phils survives then I want to take Len Bias with my 1st pick and I want Bobby Hurley with my next pick as my PG.
Bobby Phills was a cronic speed junkie who drag raced every day and drove nothing but exotic sports cars. If he doesnt die in the car accident hes subject to the rules of Final Destination so hes going die one way or another. Even if he does survive his career is over.
He truely was a good guy and I recall that day he passed away. He was just about to break out and considered one of the best MJ stoppers along with Spree and Wilkins.

Re: Build a Dynasty General Discussion
Willing to entertain offers for all players with Reggie being an exception.
I'm torn between what to do currently, and depending on what trades are available my decision could change. I do expect to contend for a few years, but upgrades are needed for that.

Re: Build a Dynasty General Discussion
I honestly dont see the problems with injuries as long as we are talking still playing 50 or more games. Because we are contracting 6 teams we are dispersing 30 starters and another 20 good bench players to 20 teams. These players need mins and those mins are going to come from injured players or injury prone players that will now play fewer mins. Im adding Vin Baker to my team and he led the NBA in mins played so I need to find 3k mins and to do that several of my players will get a night off on a back to back and will see there mins reduced.
We are basicly taking the 90s NBA and reducing it to 70s size. I cut 1800 mins in players and I brought in a player that played over 3k. Thats 1500 mins I have to take away from 2 players in Brian Williams and Rodney Rogers who only played 3300 mins combined. Ill have to move Rogers to SF for 300 mins and take mpg away from Mutombo to keep him rested. On top of that my teams best player is (PF) Laphonso Ellis who only plays 6 games this yr and blows out his knee. Next yr I will have 4 bigmen who play 30mpg and another PF who is a top 6th man who is used to over 20mpg. I would need a 75 min game for my frontcourt to get its historic mins if all my players were healthy. I most likely wouldnt let a healthy player play 70 games because I have so much depth that I need to get my players mins and keep stars rested.
For a few yrs in this league alot of teams are going be like NFL teams in that they are going to substitute more and play staters less because of huge increase in team depth. Injuries will not be game changers and season destroyers like before.
