Probably just hype but Ainge does his scouting homework and come draft time he has a record of finding buried talent.

....The Celtics’ waiving of point guard Gabe Pruitt could open an opportunity for Lester Hudson, the team’s only draft choice this year. Hudson, recovering from a broken finger, is expected to return to full-speed workouts in two weeks....

...“Minicamp and Summer League were an eye-opener for the Celtics. They knew [Hudson] could score, but the leadership and defense he brought was a surprise. He didn’t talk junk, he just did his work and went about his business....

I think there's very little chance that Hudson makes the roster unless we are able to make a s&t for Daniels. If we just sign Daniels for the LLE and along with signing Big Baby, that puts the roster at 14. The last spot we would probably look for a veteran pg.

In the Globe article they mentioned that Europe is an option and I would think that's the best for both sides. Hudson would get good playing time there and come over next year. It's too bad that we can't just "loan" Hudson to our D-League team for the year and have him not count for a roster spot. The player would be happier not having to move to Europe and the team can more closely monitor his progress.

^ yeh i think thats a bad rule tbh

I think teams should be able to assign a player to the D-league and not have them count against the 15 if they dont use him all season, hes not an active player.. but the team still gets to closely monitor their draft pick

use it as a true feeder system

ryanf:

I always read your posts because there is often some revelation in them.

I know you're not crazy about Eddie's PG skills,

but he is one the BEST SHOOTERS in the NBA.
No one on the Celtics is close to him or Ray Allen,
and Pierce and Kevin Garnett are pretty awesome shooters in their own right.

Doc Rivers has said, more than once, one of the reasons he puts Eddie on the floor
at the end of games is because Doc knows that Paul, Kevin, Ray or Rajon
will give the ball to Eddie for the last shot.

Eddie has fast hands on D, he's very disruptive when he bodies up to someone
because Eddie's fast hands are a threat to take the ball away.

He has his shortcomings, but he truly is a rotational player.

On days his shot isn't going in, that's when you need someone else to be able to take
that time. That is why Doc wants a 3rd PG on the roster,
for days when Eddie's rhythm or whatever isn't there.
