Rodrique Wright ( D-LIne)---The future DT of Ur dolphins

Post#1 » by GameTime_3 » Thu Oct 4, 2007 5:19 am

For those who don't know who he is. Rodriq wright is the DT that came from texas that we got in the 7th round. He was sopposed to be a 1 or 2 round talent but when they found out that he had a messed up shoulder and would not play for aleast a year, no one wanted him. The dolphins pickd him and last week vs oakland was the first time the docters cleared him for the first time at 100 percent. I was at the game and it seems that he was just pickingg the wrong holes or getting caught in bad postions which is to be expected froma guy who has not playing football at 100 percent in almost a year and a half. The guy is a beast we just need to give him a chance. I think once he gets he feet under him he will be good. Give him a chance. I think if by the end of the season he shows that he can be a starter in the league then our d-tackle postion will not be that huge of a priority in the draft as say corner/ linebacker or o-line. ALso got a video so people can check him out.And to the bottom some scouting reports(pre finding the injury)

Some pre draft scouting reports(before they found out he had a messd up shoulder and that no one would want him cause of that)

I think the problem with the line is acouple of things

1.Keith Traylor is old and unless u run at him he cant make the play
2. Rodriq wright needs time and practices ( i watch him alot in the game and it seems he had his guy beat but just went the wrong hole or then just got out of position to make the play( time will help him with that)
3. Paul Solai (rookie) has not stepd up like everyone thought he would.the guy just seems big and with traylor an dhim we dont have any push.
4.Jason taylor is geting pushd around like a baby out there and when u only need one linemen to move jason then it gives them the abbility to double team out tackles or hit our linebacker.

I said this in another thread, we replaced Zgonina, David Bowens, Wilkinson, Fred Evans with Solai, Rod Wright, Chase Page, and Steve Fifita. Add in that Traylor lost a lot this year (he seemed to age 10 years in about 5 months), and you can see why our run D is teh suxxorz this year.

That's a huge downgrade right now, and unless Solai and Wright really develop this season, that's a huge downgrade forever. That makes us move Vonnie Holiday and Matt Roth inside, which makes us keep JT on the line and not let him roam, etc etc, which makes us that more ineffective on 1st and 2nd downs. And when we're not in 3rd and longs a lot, we can't really cut JT and Porter loose and let them do their thing.

Add in injury problems to Zach, Bell (both big in run support) and now Holliday and Crowder, and you can see why the D is struggling.

From the Palm Beach Post...

Defensive tackle Rodrique Wright will make his first career start, replacing Vonnie Holliday, who fractured his right ankle Sunday but could return soon. Wright joined the Dolphins last year but didn't enter a game until Holliday was hurt. Wright had three solo tackles and one assist against Oakland.

I think he had a good game this He showd alot of promise this week. AFter acouple of weeks now i think that Linebacker position is a bigger need then D-Line.

He looked alright vs Houston, for sure. DTs seemed to play better as a whole unit. Soliai too.

R. Wright doesn't play NT like Traylor. Comparing them would absurd.
IMO, you can never have enough DT. We need some size there like Traylor and TimBo. Solai should've been the candidate but he has struggled to keep up with the speed of the game. He is young and could develop though. IMO, you don't pass on Dorsey in the draft hoping that Solai develops . We play a lot of 3-4 where a big NT and bigger DE are needed. We can draft a LB in the 3rd round. CB should be a higher priority. Drafting a CB as high as we are picking is not good practice unless Deon Sanders is there.
