Pre-game World Series Ceremony

Post#1 » by J-Roc » Sat Aug 8, 2009 3:33 am

So what did you guys think? I got chills just seeing the guys. Jimmy Key with grey hair.

But....baseball is dead in Toronto. The empty stadium was embarrassing. The mild cheers for players was embarrassing. I guess I was expecting a full stadium and lots of talk after about how great the stadium is when it's full with cheering fans.

Yep, feel the same way. But this could reignite something here. Hopefully the old jays spark something to bring winning baseball back to TO.

Was at the game, and felt the chills. I cheered my best for them.

I missed it. Who were the most notable absentees?

From the top of my head...
David Wells, George Bell, Mike Timlin, David Cone, Rickey Henderson. Jimmy Key?

I wish i was in Toronto last weekend. I was watching on TV and I got mad chillsss!

I got a little teary when Cito tossed the first pitched and all the players surrounded him.

I thought that was pretty cool.

Someone posted the ceremony on Youtube (don't know if it is still up). Cone and Key were there. Seemed like a fun experience.

I just wish they did it on Opening Day in front of a packed house rather than during a forgettable August game against the Orioles. The crowd may have been more into it if that were the case.

I can't believe how empty the Skydome looked.

It was pretty sad seeing these legends come out to a half full stadium.

I am now scrounging my basement for these VHS tapes. They're in a box somewhere.

There's also a Back 2 Back VHS too. That one was sick. Followed the entire '93 season.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

George Bell unfortunately missed out on the World Series years.

my only "defense" is that getting Torontoians to come early to any sporting event is a challenge.
i don't think it showed apathy per se. but a 6:45 ceremony start in downtown Toronto is not the best of start times.
