Yes!! Finally. Great to have BBD back, even though there are not many minutes with Perkins, KG, and Sheed. But it's always good to have a 4th big. I see BBD playing about 10-14 minutes a game.

I love it when he pushes the kid out of the way.

Welcome back Glen Davis.

Starters

Rotation Players
Sheed
House
Daniels (it's confirmed he's coming, how it will happen still TBD)
Big Baby

End of Bench or Inactive
Scalabrine
TA
S. Williams
Walker
Giddens

That's 14 out of available 15 roster spots. (could shrink down to as little as 12, dpeending on if there is any outgoing players in the Daniels deal.)

The re signing of BBD is huge because it allows us to keep KG's and Sheed's minutes down to 30 minutes or less. They should be fresh for the playoffs.

Ray and Paul were overplayed last season and strugged at times in the playoffs due to this. The Daniels signing will help us big time in keeping Ray's and Paul's minutes down as well. Besides Rondo, I don't see any one of our players averaging more than 35 minutes a game.

Considering none of Wallace, Garnett, or Perkins are a great bet to play 70 games, this is a great signing. It now officially pushes Williams into that 5th or 6th big, and should help us avoid playing Scalabrine extended minutes.

I think two years should work well for Davis too. If he continues to stay in shape and perform, in two years he could hit the market and make some good money, especially if the economy turns around and the cap bounces back up a bit.

yahoo.com

WALTHAM, Mass. (AP)—The Boston Celtics are bringing back Glen “Big Baby” Davis.

The Celtics announced Monday that they’ve re-signed the power forward to a new deal. It’s reportedly for two years.

Davis, a two-year pro out of Louisiana State, was a restricted free agent.

After averaging 7 points per game during the regular season, the 6-foot-9, 289-pound forward emerged in the playoffs, improving to 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.

I like it. Glen was a solid contributor in the playoff and is an asset that can be moved later. It's about time.

yeah, i agree and think this is big. i didnt think that glenn davis had improved leaps and bounds the way some people talked after the playoffs. while i think it means more to put on a good performance in the postseason than regular season i dont think we can expect 16 pts and 6 or so rebounds a game in the regular season just because he did it for a stretch (remember when TA looked like he was gonna light up the league for about two weeks?). but it does seem to show that baby has continually improved, and may have taken a bit of a jump during the playoffs, so i think he has certainly earned an increase in minutes.

i think they will try to play baby and shelden as much as possible. obviously we want baby in more than shelden, but any rout we get into, any bad team were beating up...expect to see more shelden and glenn than perk/kg/sheed.

i look at this with the dual purpose of development and health. the more we can rest our key guys during the season, the fresher they will be down the stretch and for the postseason. also glenn will need to play to keep getting better, and i think shelden needs time too. williams is obviously here primarily for depth, but i dont think its a coincidence we keep checking out these former high draft picks and (especially with shelden) that their playing style can complement our main big men.

i wish powe could be healthy and be here, but hes not, so an improving davis/williams/scal is way better for a 4th/5th/6th big than what weve had recently (pollard, moore, POB etc)

Baby must be relieved to finally have a deal but I don't think this is the way he saw his off season going.

That's not a bad bench at all.

We've got Sheed and Wallace spelling our bigs and probably playing significant minutes. I can see Wallace logging in about 28-30 minutes a game with Baby playing around 20-24 minutes per game.

I'll feel much better once we get Daniels onto the team, but I'd still like to see a backup PG.

According to Yahoo, Davis's deal is for 2 years, 5M with potential weight related bonuses of 500K each season. That's a good deal. It would be interesting to find out what weight Davis has to hit to earn that bonus.
