You guys may like Kurt as your coach, he's smart and can prepare a team well. I've seen guys wondering if he'll use the Triangle, I strongly doubt it. I don't think the Wolves are equipped to run it, only because deep threat shooters are required to use it along with bigs who can score inside consistently.

The learning curve is too long for the Tri, up to 2 years in most cases before guys get it down. It's too deliberate also and it'll do nothing but slow down your young guys, Kurt will turn these guys loose and let them run but with control not like that garbage you see from the Suns and Warriors.

With guards like Flynn and one day Rubio this should be no problem. Good luck next season.

mnWI from what you have heard is it basically done? My only fear is if the Kings were unable to reach an agreement with Rambis, the same thing might happen here. Also I read somewhere that Kahn is using the same interview process that was used during the GM search. If we all recall that, the process created the Tom Penn situation where you can either believe the media or Taylor that an offer was or was not offered.

Basically I am concerned that next week we will here there was never an offer and now they are going with Jackson or Elston.

The Triangle requires atleast 2 superstar players (Magic/Worthy/Kareem, Kobe/Shaq, Kobe/Gasol, etc..) to take advantage of the 1-on-1's ... pretty much like every other offense. Hmmm, maybe it's not the offense ... .

But any coach that succeeds here could bolt to a larger market such as LA, NY, Boston, or Miami.

I think Rambis will do fine. Maybe he understands we are the original Lakers, and with out MN, he never would have had the opportunity to win those championships.

I agree that most of the role players are better coaches, and for the most part, have had the opportunity to watch the game more than a starter who plays heavy minutes. They just have a different perspective on watching a game from the bench, listening to the coaches, identifying a need to adjust, calling timeouts, and substitutions, etc..... Star players usually end up trying to coach/mentor one player instead of a team.

It would be awesome if he hired McHale as an assistant ... they could replay the close-line move along with demonstrating all kinds of drills. Yes I know it's not going to happen, but I'm just saying ...

Mark Jackson should join as an asst coach, then work w/ Flynn and when he inevitably has a great rookie season, Mark will probably start getting head coach offers as soon as next season.

Isn't Phil retiring after this year, when his contract's up? That was the rumor I heard at least, along with Rambis being the guy the FO wanted to take over, and Brian Shaw being the guy Kobe wanted. Maybe between when he was offered the SAC job and this job he had a chance to sit down with the Laker brass and they told him that they were going to cave to Kobe, so he'd better look out for numero uno.

If Phil does retire after this year, I don't think we have to worry about Rambis achieving much success here by the time Phil retires.
