Re: OT - Other teams moves
^^^^ As I suggested here a couple months ago, I think that's an excellent gamble. If he makes it back to where he was they get a bargain for a year and a third. If not then one of the veteran minimum spots at the end of the bench is filled without contribution which Cleveland is used to having tied up with a larger salary guy anyway (as are we). Would have rather that we took such a chance.

Hopefully if Powe signs with cleveland that will clear the way for the Hawks to sign Joe Smith. I wouldn't have been particularly excited about a Joe Smith signing if it were discussed at the start of FA but at this point he is pretty much the best option left.

With you on Leon throughout free agency. Cleveland just signed a gem that from what I know has a strong work ethic and will be prepared to work hard for a long term contract two years from now.

I agree. Joe needs to be on the top of our list and both parties can benefit. I'm not sure what his agent is telling him, but maybe he is looking for a Drew Gooden contract, because Cleveland seemed to go a different direction by signing Lean Powe. If Joe was willing to sign for the minimum I believe he would be a Cav right now.

Re: OT - Other teams moves
I read this (link here) about Gooden's deal. It theorizes that the size of Gooden's deal is meant as a way to trade him to a team looking for cap relief. I'm not sure I buy into that, but I will say it is one of the most creative accounting tricks I've heard of.
After reading about the contract I'm also now more envious of the Cavs move. It's really a 1 year minimum salary guarantee with a team option for a 2nd year also at the minimum. They didn't even have to guarantee Powe 2 years in order to get him to sign.

I guess we never intended on pursing Leon Powe.
After the Cavs made their offer, did you start getting other offers?
I got offers from Portland, Dallas, the Lakers said if they didn’t bring Odom back that there was definitely interest, Memphis, and then Boston made an offer, but I had already told Cleveland I was coming. Link

Milwaukee acquires Delfino in trade while Toronto get Amir Johnson. I like the move for Milwaukee. Delfino's per minute stats matched Childress the last time they were in the league at a lower price tag. Amir Johnson is promise without delivery. Maybe he'll break out in Toronto, but I've got my doubts.
Not a very sexy trade at all.
