OT: Pizza

Post#1 » by AAU Teammate » Tue Aug 11, 2009 5:45 pm

I know these types of threads come up every now and then, but hey our free agent attainment has been so fast-paced that we deserve a break from it... yea

What's the best place in Chicago? I go Pequods for deep dish.

Cliché, but Giordanos has been my favorite so far.

I haven't tried Pequods yet, but when searching for pictures on Google, I'm not impressed.

Lou Malnati's, though Pequod's is damn good too and there is absolutely no crust that comes close to Pequod's caramelized crust.

Cliff Levingston did as well (about 8 months ago or so) at the original location on Ontario and Papa John's and Pizza Hut was probably better. Extremely surprising and even more so disappointing.

I'm a Pequod's fan but I don't consider it deep dish just because it has a thick crust.

Giordanos is my favorite for deep dish.

Sarpino's is my favorite chain

Undecided on my favorite thin crust - no one has really wowed me yet. So I'll go with my homemade on the grill thin crust.

Giordano's is tourist TRASH pizza!

Pequods is the best in the city IMO.

+1 on the Sarpino's being the best chain pizza... that's a fact, by a longshot!

I'm not from Chicago. I've only eaten at three Chicago deep dish places:

(1) Giordano's
(2) Lou Malnati's
(3) Uno's (the original one)

I thought Giordano's was delicious, and found Malnati's and Uno's to be very disappointing. Neither even sniffs my top 10 favorite pizza places. In fact, I doubt I'd ever choose to eat at either Uno's or Malnati's ever again.

Good list!

Half way through this post, I had to leave and go get lunch! I was getting hungry!

Arounf Draft time in June we were all talking about places to go for lunch "downtown"!

How about Giordano's at 225 W Jackson this Friday (8/14) and
Lou Malnati's at 439 N Wells next Friday (8/21)

Then we can vote on it!
Never give up. Never surrender.
