Tigers/Red Sox scuffle

Post#1 » by Master Shake » Wed Aug 12, 2009 2:49 am

I for one will admit a little bias here, being a Tiger fan. But I absolutely condemn the actions of the Boston Red Sox in this series thus far. The team is acting like a bunch of crybabys that have their pride and egos hurt after the Yankees series.

Miguel Cabrera has been hit twice without so much as a glance in this series (one of which causing a hand injury.) Along with Brandon Inge being plunked, and a number of inside pitches.

Victor Martinez gets an inside heater and looks like he's about to cry. (Seriously, I'm a pitcher and I throw inside to get guys off the plate constantly... get over it.) Then Youkilis gets hit and without hesitation charges the mound.

Couple things wrong here... Youkilis planned it. Porcello was in the midst of a pretty dominate game with a 3-0 lead. Youkilis obviously had pre-meditated this decision and I think should be suspended for a good number of games... 4 or 5. Then Porcello gets ejected without ever having a warning and the kid never threw a punch... just pinned Youkilis' weak ass on the ground. Now look... Tigers used the bullpen a lot the night earlier, and Youkilis looks like a genius for removing Porcello in the midst of a good outing.

I lost a lot of respect for the Red Sox and Youkilis tonight. They've come off as a big bunch of crybabies...

Yeah, this is really tiresome. Every time someone throws inside to Youkilis he glares back like a jackass. Stop standing on top of the plate, (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Or just accept that you'll get hit and go to first base like a normal person.

Much respect for Rick Porcello. **** you, Julio Lugo.

Boston is desperate for wins now. They'll do anything to get ahead. I'm not too surprised.

I'm not a fan of how it came about either. But if this is what they got to do to get a spark in that clubhouse. Then you got to do it. Many teams do this.

Miguel Cabrera has been hit twice without so much as a glance in this series (one of which causing a hand injury.)

Yeah, that was lame, throw at his ass. It is safe, and sends the message.

Victor Martinez gets an inside heater and looks like he's about to cry. (Seriously, I'm a pitcher and I throw inside to get guys off the plate constantly... get over it.)

This is where your bias gets pretty annoying. He clearly threw at victor there. Right where Miggy got hit. So how can miggy cry poor mouth, but Victor can't?

Then Youkilis gets hit and without hesitation charges the mound.

Couple things wrong here... Youkilis planned it.

He didn't plan getting hit. But of course he went up there with the mindset that if he gets plunked, he's charging the mound. That was the red sox plan all along. I don't condone it, but many teams do this. Look at the rays last year. They wanted to prove they could hang in with the bad boys, and they hit coco crisp. Made him charge the mound. Their ego grew ten times after that fight and kept their hot start going. Fights can make a clubhouse better, if you want to bitch about the sox, bitch about Brad Penny and Tasawa's location was on miggy. That was cheap.

:D

He has every right to complain about Miggy getting hit and injured. But he lost all cred with me when he made that comment on victor.

Porcello wanted nothing to do with Youk. He was backing up pretty quickly hoping a teammate would have stepped in. I was just hoping Youk would have actually taken a swing at the little bitch. I think everybody knew what Porcello was doing.

Porcello is just 20 years old and is a lot scrawnier than youkilis. Of course he didn't want any part of him, but the fact that youkilis somehow ended up in the bottom of the scuffle makes me laugh out loud.

With some big idiot charging the mound, what else do you expect Porcello to do? Stand there so he has no momentum as Youk tries to bellyflop him? Porcello stepped to the side and threw Youk's sorry ass to the ground.

It was great.

Both sides were wrong for what happened, but as a Tiger fan, I was happy to see Porcello not back down. Our guys have been hit repeatedly by Red Sox pitchers. As for reports about Youk slamming Porcello to the ground? HA!! He tried and couldn't. Porcello just stood there and hip checked him over his left side and slammed him to the ground and then got on top of him to restrain him. Watch it again.

I wouldn't be surprised by suspensions, but I hope not... for either side. just a warning and maybe a fine and let it go.

This whole thing was f*cking joke and Youkilis is a (Please Use More Appropriate Word). I love how no one is pointing out how he also threw his helmet at Porcello and then proceeded to play Don Zimmer. I knew they used to be 'the idiots' back in 04, but this is a whole new can of worms.

If Youk doesn't get 4-5 games and Porcello somehow gets more than 1-2, I'm driving to the league offices and hitting Bud Selig with a chair.

Porcello was clearly caught off guard a bit. He's only 20 years old and I'm sure he didn't want to be ejected. But after Youk's bitch ass threw his helmet at him and grabbed on to him he slammed him to the ground. Pretty embarrassing for Youkilis.

Seriously... LOL at Youk getting tossed by a 190 pound 20 year old. He looked like a bald-headed fool. To say that you hope Youk took a swing at Porcello is sad... as if throwing your helmet and getting punked by a 20 year old isn't enough? Youk better get a suspension for throwing of the equipment at a player... that can cause another injury...

Go ahead and call me out for venting, but its pretty classless that the Red Sox knew the situation and ignited the brawl just to get a pitcher out of the game... quite sad. I'm hoping the Tigers sign Brock Lesner tonight and have him crowd the plate on Beckett and then charge the mound in the first inning so we get the upper hand for the game.

And Victor Martinez has no right for that glare when HE NEVER GOT HIT, Cabrera got HIT AND INJURED and didn't even glare back at Tazawa. Classless moves all around by the Red Sox tonight... I actually loathe Boston more than the Yankees now.

If Yankee fan Bob Watson gives Youk more than the 6 games he gave Richie Sexson last year I'll be pissed. That was worse too because Sexson didn't even get hit by a pitch.

And Porcello is a fool if he was caught off guard, they hit Youk the night before, he should be expecting something to happen, that's how it works. He did good though by sidestepping Youk, it was the smart call in that situation. He should take lessons from James Shields on how to stand your ground and not take the cheap way out though.
They should both get 5 games imo, 1 start for Porcello and a workweek of Nick Green and Chris Woodward getting serious playing time for the Sox.

That's cool if you want to call out youk for whiffing on a tackle. But seriously, you're saying Victor Martinez has to sit there and smile at every ball thrown at his head? That's ridiculous.

No he didn't. Edwin Jackson did, after Brad Penny hit Cabrera. Tazawa hit Cabrera again, so Porcello hit Youkilis again. "that's how it works." The only difference is that our player didn't charge the mound like a baffoon and then not back it up. Our team didn't start it, but they ended it.

Sorry for the error, I meant "they", not "he".
