UFC's Cote injures MCL, out until 2010

Canadian middleweight Patrick (The Predator) Cote’s return to the Octagon has hit another snag. Cote, who has not fought since a knee injury derailed his attempt to dethrone champion Anderson (The Spider) Silva at UFC 90 in October 2008, hurt his knee again in training for his comeback and will be out until at least February.

The Rimouski, Que., native confirmed the bad news on his Facebook page late Monday. He was set to undergo a second surgery in 10 months on Tuesday, this time to repair a damaged MCL.

That's what three knee injuries in the last year and a half? That's horrible. I wonder if he's going to be able to actually come back from this. And doesn't he hold a belt somewhere? Why hasn't he been stripped yet?

Tough break. Hopefully, he can still comeback and not have it completely end his career.

Two knee injuries not three, read the article you put up, the first knee injury came in his title shot vs Anderson Silva. So no Cote does not hold a belt.

Yeah, for some reason I still thought he did his knee somewhere other time. Must be crazy I guess.

As for the belt, sportsnet shows he has the MFC belt. Is that organisation still around?

If Anderson vacates, they need Henderson vs. Okami for the title.

Does anyone think Cote could have won that fight? if it went 5 rounds?

Feel bad for the guy, but I'm also kinda tired of hearing about the guy like he's an elite fighter.

Just because he got a title shot against Silva (as an injury replacement, somewhat ironically) and didn't die doesn't mean he's elite.

He's a likable guy and can be fairly entertaining if the other guy cooperates, so I wish him the best, and I hope he proves me wrong, but he's a borderline top 20 guy who happened to find himself in a main event.

He wasn't an injury replacement, he beat Almeida in a #1 contender fight to earn his title shot.

Okami is the forgotten guy in this weight class. He should have had a title shot by now.

I always wondered what's been happening to him ever since. I've always been hearing he was lined up for that title shot long ago.

I do remember that being a #1 contender fight, but that shot belonged to Okami until he got hurt. Then I think it got pushed back a month to accomodate Cote/Almeida.
