Last year they were 14th... and thats not because of Barber. I'm not arguing for Julius. Barber averaged 4.8 ypc last year. He's at 6.3 this year, has 5 TDs already, and 256 yards through 3 games.
I agree with most of what you said, but I'd take Willie Parker over Portis.
Portis/Betts vs. Barber/Jones

I gave that number because this is Portis/Betts vs. Jones/Barber, not Portis vs. Barber or Betts vs. Barber.
Why would you take Parker over Portis? He seems to have become more consistent this year so far, but last year, his rushing stats were inflated due to a couple big games. While Parker is a bit shiftier and a good breakaway threat, Portis is no slouch at that either. Yes, Portis has lost some of that breakaway ability after putting on weight, but Portis runs with more power and is a much better blocker.
I think we will see Gibbs finally start to give Portis 20+ carries a game beginning in Detroit. In the past, we used to use Portis as a workhorse 30 carry a game back and he was good at that, but he also racked up multiple injuries he played through. The plan this season was to split carries between Portis and Betts in a 60/40 ratio or so, but Betts has been kinda ineffective thus far.
