Kobe's value around the league

Post#1 » by Gus McCrae » Thu Aug 13, 2009 1:58 am

Just for fun name a player or package of players you'd ever consider trading Kobe for...
You can take salary, aging, etc. into consideration.

The only player in the league I'd ever trade him for would be Lebron due to age even though I think Kobe's a better player this year and will be next year.

Packages I'd consider:
Dwayne Wade/Michael Beasley
Dwight Howard/Jameer Nelson/Brandon Bass
Kevin Durant/James Harden/ Westbrook
Gay/Mayo/Gasol (have to think about that one)

I'd love to throw out a hypothetical for Derrick Rose but there's nothing else on the Bulls that tickles my fancy.

not saying the other teams would do it and there's no reason for us to change what works, but just to see what you guys all think about Kobe's value.

At this age, I'd deal Kobe straight up for Wade/Bron/Roy/CP3.

I still believe only Wade and Bron make us feel like we haven't lost anything.

I don't think we'd win a ring this year with Kobe straight up for Cp3. The others yes.

All of those deals except the Memphis one look good if we absolutely had to trade Kobe for some reason. Not a big fan of Gay, I don't think he'll ever be part of a championship team.

The thunder package looks the best to me, I'd probably be willing to settle for Durant and Westbrook or Harden.

This topic is blasphemy though, when I heard Kobe demanded a trade I died a little inside.

It's a tough subject, but I look at it more like realizing what a great player we have here. I think it gets lost in the mix when people say what a great supporting cast we have or even saying we'd have won the threepeat with another guard. It's nice to realize how valuable Kobe really is. :)

I don't think so. It might put more pressure on Pau/Artest/LO/Bynum to score & finish but if finish they do, CP3 could average some crazy assist numbers.

Okay thinking further here's a better list:

Wade/Beasley
Roy
James
Howard/Nelson
Durant /Westbrook or Harden
nothing celtics or spurs
Dirk/Howard
Rose /Thomas/Noah
Ellis/ Randolph/ Curry?
Harris/ Lopez
Anthony/Nene or Billups
Bosh/Calderon
Griffin/Gordon (stretch)

would you guys do any of these? all of these? etc.. I"ve got three Kobe jersey's and his name in my freaking username. Don't question my love, just answer objectively.

Idk if the triangle would fit well for Paul. He'd be good don't get me wrong, but he gets most of his assists on the break and then off the pick and roll. I don't see them running the pick and roll with Paul though.

I wouldnt trade anyone for kobe for the simple fact that no one that you guys mention play both ends of the floor i mean we already know no one can score like kobe but he also plays defence at the same level which is why he is the best player in the game period

IIRC in crunch time we ran a lot of P&R with Kobe and Pau...so why wouldn't they with CP3?

With CP3 as PG you wouldn't be running the text book offense. You give him the ball and roll with it.

At this point, you can't trade Kobe for any player(s). You just trade him for Championships.

Kobe is 30 years old but has around 6 more good years left. We can win 2 or 3 more rings in 6 years with him by upgrading the talent continually.

I wouldn't trade Kobe for Wade because Wade is going to be 28 soon. That's only about 2 years difference in age and Wade is widely speculated to break down much sooner than normal players.

I would trade for Lebron and Dwight but Chris Paul is borderline because it's harder to win with a small PG.

Kobe has to agree to a trade

Kobe will win 7 titles but he is tradable

Because of his age now

I think the ultimate way to honor Kobe is to let him keep his starting spot on the Lakers until he is ready to retire and to never trade him away.

Kobe should never wear another uni (same w/ Duncan)
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!
