I worked on jballer's interesting deal, and came up with this:
Utah
In: 16.7 QRich + Atkins + Songalia + UTA 1st top 16 prot. returned
Out 19.2: Boozer + Harpring
Minny
In 20.1: Blount + Harpring + Daequan Cook + James Jones + MIA future lottery-protected 1st + TORs lottery protected 1st Rounder
Out: 16.7: QRich + Atkins + Songalia + UTA 1st
Miami
In 12.7: Boozer
Out 13.6.: Blount + Daequan Cook + James Jones + TOR lottery protected 1st Rounder + MIA future lottery-protected 1st Rounder
WHY FOR UTA?
They save $2.5 mil + $2.7 for Atkins, doubled for the lux, for a total of $10.4 mil. Songalia's contract doesn't hurt next season when they are under, and it matches the length of Kirilenko. Q-Rich and Songalia are both more productive than the worthless Harpring. In addition to the financial savings, they also reclaim the protected UTA pick.
WHY FOR MINNY?
They pay $3.4 up front, and take back $14.5 mil in worthless salary, but they add a future 1st. The UTA pick for TOR pick swap is about even, but they buy the MIA future 1st. Atkins moves Songalia's deal. They get a look at two prospects in Daequan Cook and James Jones. MIN buys out the injured Harpring and Blount, who averaged 4 PPG, 2 RPG last year.
WHY FOR MIA?
They add Boozer and don't bust over the lux. The two young prospects both had bad shooting seasons, and adding Boozer to JO means their going for a ring now. The MIA pick may be late, and the TOR pick provides UTA incentive to gain a player like Boozer while they ship out Blount's worthless deal.
