Beasley actually has shown that he's a PF, which is the problem, because he doesn't play defense, isn't as good as Love or Jefferson, and would just add to our glut at the position.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

When I posted this trade I was thinking of Iggy at SG and Beasley at SF (obviously he'll have to put in some work on his D at that position). That way we could start Rubio/Iggy/Beasley/Love/C. I did screw it up by weighing it too heavily in favor of MIA.

Well, that's kind of fair I guess. In my defense, I've been watching these guys from year 1 as an adult, 20 years is a long haul. But I'm not very generous towards the wolves I guess. But also note that I hardly ever post! I normally bite my tongue when I think you guys have your homer glasses on since even I know how annoying a negative fan is.

For other responses: of course I realize that KG and Pau play as PF's, but so should Jefferson. If the choice was to play KG or Pau at center or to play Jefferson at center, who would you choose? On the other hand, while I consider Dirk better than Jefferson, he's not a center. If you had to play one or the other it wouldn't be unreasonable to choose Jefferson. That's the sort of thinking I was using creating my list. I still am comfortable thinking each of those guys would be a better center than Al though of course it also depends on teammates.

Main point - I think Jefferson is a good player... but he has serious weaknesses in his game that I think some of you are too quick to overlook. But of course that is just one ignorant long suffering fan's opinion!

I saw it as Iggy at SG(which I don't think is a stretch) and Beasley at SF (I think he's a PF as much as I do Jeff Green). Interesting idea. I'm not a huge Beasley fan, but love Iggy...so not sure if I'd do it on MN end.

Off the top of my head, these 5 guys are all better centers than Jefferson:

Dwight Howard
Pau Gasol
Brook Lopez
Kevin Garnett
Andrew Bynum

They are all better defensive players and better passers as well as being effective in the low post. Plus they all know how to do that without dominating the ball. I'm sure you can think of others yourself. For example, if Duncan is healthy again he'd obviously be on the list. Jefferson is a good player, but border-line all-star is about it for him.

Jefferson is a better player than Brook Lopez.

Nobody would say those kind things about Pau Gasol as a Grizz. Only as a LAL where he is the #2 guy.

D.Howard is the best center. Jefferson could make a nice push for #2.

Bynum is not in this talk.

Oh I hear ya, I've been following since day 1 as well. It's tough, but ya gotta be optomistic. Hell, if the Red Sox fans could hang on for 86 years, and still turn a blind eye when steroids got them over the hump, we still have a long time before we give up.

And yes, casey's a hater as well. :-)

I disagree about Gasol on the Grizzliez; I always thought he was criminally underrated and one of the most skilled players in the league. As a matter of fact, I still do believe that.

However, aside from Dwight Howard, the other guys on the list aren't even in the discussion; Jefferso carries his team, to the tune of twenty-three points, eleven rebounds and big minutes every game. Bynum has been actively horrible since surgery, and in my opinion he's a giant gamble at this point. Lopez is still green yet, and to argue that he could put up Jefferson numbers at this point in his career is ridiculous. It's very obvious to anyone who's seen both of them play that Jefferson possesses more basketball skills than Brook Lopez. The Jefferson/Lopez argument is very black and white. As for KG, although he remains my favorite player in the league and I'd like for him to do well, I can't see him playing more than twenty minutes a game this year.
