Robertson now has a K/9 rate of 13, absolutely love this kid and the potential for our bullpen even when Mariano is gone.

Yeah, but that last "strikeout" was CB Bucknor magic and there's not much getting around it...

Absolutely, but we've been on the wrong end of some CB magic in the past as well so I'll take it

Cano really got away with a careless error in the first. His patented back hand ate him up. Luckily, the yanks offense carried him for the night.
Robertson and Melancon are two guys who can inherit the 7th and 8th inning roles when Hughes becomes a starter.
Right now, the ageless Mo is leading the league in saves. Who remembers when the league when ga-ga over Eric "Gag-me" Gagne? **** Canadian farce.

I'm serious man. It still irks me that Gagne had a Cy Young but not Mo. FARCE.

One of my favorite young players Ramiro Pena laid down a beautiful bunt, followed by Jeter's double that scores him from first. Text book small ball action.

yea, I guess this is all in the learning process. Last year, verlander was a mess, the year before he was money, this year he is back to being money again.. Joba needs to get in better shape I think, he needs to learn how to attack batters better and how to maintain his velocity from beginning to end. Become more efficient. Right now he is unpredictable and even though he has great stuff looks no better than a lot of #4 starters in this league with less stuff than he has...

Re: Yanks @ Mariners: Staying one step ahead
ok, we don't get the sweep and we get a loss here. Aceves and gaudin make a mess of the 7th inning, giving up 4 runs... geez... I wanted the sweep. but hey, boston lost, so we still maintain a 7.5 game lead....

Re: Yanks @ Mariners: Staying one step ahead
Plenty of blame to go around.
Joba lost it in the third, he just kept dancing out of danger until the Mariners finally made him pay. What really killed me was how he continues to fail to put away .226 hitters at the bottom of the order.
Then Girardi brought in Alfredo "Not an Ace" Aceves who had some time off and looked every bit rusty. Never mind he dug his own grave in the inning. The back to back hit bats men was unforgivable.
Gaudin just made sure the Yanks comeback plans were a pipe dream.
But on offense, the Yanks just couldn't sustain innings despite having "Fistings" on the ropes a couple times early.
There was a bright spot: Jetes made history and the Red Sox lost. So no harm no foul in taking 3 out of 4 from the Mariners.
Next stop Oakland: Burnett, Sabbathia, Pettitte...time to get the big guns out.
