You know, the more I think of this (and thanks for indulging me on this guys), I don't think that's true. I think that the pressure to be a superstar, questions about etiquette, and locker room weirdness would kill even a good NBA career for a woman.

Especially the locker-room thing. Just ask John Amaechi.

How is that statement not true? There are a bunch of great players in Europe and NBDL who will never go on to survive in the NBA. Taurasi is my favorite WNBA player(yes, I've actually went to see her at a WNBA game), but I have a hard time buying that pressure is going to be the deciding factor for her. She's skilled enough, but that just doesn't cut it when she'll be going up against guys that are 25+lbs heavier, with 34+ verticals, and can probably run sub 4.4 40s.

You can't possibly believe that can you? There is no possible way you believe that. If so...bless your heart.

Over Taylor Griffin? At least she can score buckets.

^ The reason why woman players would never want to play in the nba is this.

Star WNBA players are scrub NBA players who will physically be beat down over time. But the question was could she play in the NBA? Yes, she could make a team if she was willing to give up her WNBA MVP stardom which she wouldn't.

The reason I brought up Salim is because he was a star in college which is obviously much tougher competition than the WNBA. That said, he's out of the league because he didn't have a position in the NBA. He couldn't run the point and was too small to play the 2. Taurasi would be a lot worse than Salim in every facet of the game, and like I said Salim only lasted 2 years.

You guys rib on Steve Nash's athleticism, but you think Taurasi can play in the NBA? At least Nash can dunk, can Diana even do that? How will she be able to stay in front of her man, or get back on D? The answer is she wouldnt. So how talented is she offensively to make up for this? The reality is there are guys who are far better shooters then her, some of the most talented shooters in the world, who arent in teh NBA, because they arent athletic enough to get their shot off. Kapono for example would not be in the league if he was Taurasi's height. Playmaking wise, shes not even a point guard in the WNBA, and you expect her to be a better playmaker then guys that are key players for top national teams like Goran Dragic?

Can Taurasi play in the NBA for 7-8 mins a game, and not hurt the team that much, maybe even get a few buckets? Yes, but there are so many guys better then her who can easily fill that role and might have athletic potential to become something better, that it would make no basketball sense to give her a contract. If the question was can Taurasi play for Oak Hill, then this might be a more debatable hypothetical scenario, but were talking about the NBA!!! This isnt some boys vs girls playground game, these are the worlds best athletes were talking about, who have beet through testosterone filled puberty several times over. Taurasi just doesnt bring enough to the table to offset her poor athleticism when compared to the NBA, otherwise she would have already been in the league, sponsors and owners are all too eager to get a woman on their team for the publicity, women who are able to compete with men often make more then their male counterparts, because of the novelty involved. To suggest that Taurasi or any other woman is reluctant to play in the best league in the world and make a ton more cash because shes scared of being harassed in the locker room is asinine.

Equality does not mean ignoring the differences between men and women, or celebrating the accomplishments of one sex while ignoring the attributes of another. I cant believe this thread is so long...

Can he?

I only ask because I would kill to see Nash elevate and throw down. If he could (I've never seen anything to support that he can), then I hope he's saving it for game 7 of the finals next year... you know, when the team needs an emotional boost in order to win their first ever title...

Nash can dunk. He had a 31 inch verticle coming into the league and he used to dunk growing up. In interviews, hes said he can dunk when asked, and players have said Nash can dunk as well when asked whats one thing people dont know about Steve Nash. Ive also seen Nash nearly catch an alley-oop dunk at his charity game, he had the hops just didnt get a good enough handle on it, so yes he can dunk. My whole point is to show you the athletic differences between men and women, where someone you consider to be one of the worst athletes in the league would be one of the best in the WNBA.

Thank you, my friend, thank you.

How AWESOME would that be?
