Who really cares if he is an athletic freak or not? For one, run and gun isn't exactly our style of play anymore. Granted we still play faster than most teams, but not as much. Plus on top of that, all of our current bigs are athletic don't have a lot of size. Both Kmart and Bird are 6'9ish/230lbs, NenĂª is also 6'9 but at least he has some meat to him. We could use a guy with some legit size. Moore is tall, but is even skinnier than the rest of our guys. Aaron Gray is 7'0 275lbs, I'll take that.

I kinda do. It is my own fault for following European basketball. Actually it is Larry Brown's fault for not playing Carmelo. But now that I follow it when posters started pitching Gray my first thought was why not Melvin Ely. My second thought was I wonder if Robertas Javtokas has signed in Europe. My third thought was I wondered if we could give the Spurs a 2nd rounder for him.

Javtokas would fit in well with the Nuggets. "The Shark" is 6'11, 270 with a 40 inch vertical known for dunking on a 12 foot hoop. If not for a motorcycle injury (happened like 6 years ago) which he has fully recovered from the Spurs would have brought him over. The Shark can still fly and had a nice year for Dynamo Moscow. I think Javtokas has already signed with another team in Russia however.

Love to see Gray try this.

never heard anything bad about him as a team player. Overseas is a much more team oriented game to begin with anyways. he's long a hell, a freak athlete, and skilled. And unfortunately recently singed to BC Kimky Moscow for this year. But there is always next year.

we also missed out on Loren Woods a legit 7'2 C. I'd take him over Gray too.. easy.

Really Loren Woods? He has been ran off from 4 teams in 4 years. The guy at his best put up 4 and 5 in 16 minutes a game, on a Raptors team that needed centers. Of course Gray is almost as bad. No thanks, would rather just bring back Petro. Of find someone out of the d-league or through trades that can actually come in and rebound and play a little defense against 7 footers.

He's grown into one of the top Centers out there internationally. Haislip is another guy that flamed out of the NBA... but he's back and he comes with a new bag of tricks. Europe has been good for Loren Woods. Players can develop even at 28, 29, and 30. Woods would have by no means been my top choice of international players but yes I do like him better than Gray. Just went to DraftExpress and they list Woods on their top international free agents (meaning no nba draft rights held). So I'm not exactly taking CRAZY PILLS here... well if I am I'm not the only one.

You really overvalue the international game dude. There is a reason why these guys have spent the majority of their careers in Europe. The international game is about on par with the D-League.

Talk about ignorant. The international game is wide ranging. Basketball in Luxembourg and Iceland is nowhere near D-League basketball and EuroLeague basketball is superior to the D-League. I'd like to see Gray average 12.3 ppg, 9 boards, and 2.4 block per game shooting 57% from the field in EuroLeague play.. because Loren Woods did.

hard worker, general team player, and he'd be patient enough to sit on the bench and wait for his minutes.

he's like marcin gortat, but a more athletic version.

he'd also be a lot cheaper than Gortat. Landing both Javtokas and Lavrinovic next summer would be freakin sweet.

Anyways I'm trying to get this confirmed but Kenan Bajramovic (6'9 250) is listed as available on EuroBasket. He was supposed to sign with ALBA in Berlin but I don't think it went down.

He's not like the athletes we've been talking about but he'd be a good pickup IMO. He's a body builder... a tank really... and very skilled. Has the three ball in his skill set. I'd guess he's worth 900k-1.5 million in that range. Believe he's 28 so a good time to bring him over. He's strong enough he'd give PFs a heck of a fight for position on the block. I like his release point on the shot too.

Would he get in the rotation? Pretty low risk financially to find out.

Do you watch European ball? If so, do you live in the states and how do you watch it? I would be interested in watching some, I just have no idea how to do it.

I do watch international ball. EuroLeague you can just track on their website and you should be able to buy the games and watch them online. Also satellite TV for your PC will get you thousands of channels and that will get you tons of basketball games in damn near all countries. The issue with that is language. You won't understand what the hell they are saying... but you can still watch the game.

Finally you can do this... pretend to be part of the media. Now I do write articles now and again. But if you email an agent or team for some game video and you tell them you're media... they'll give you whatever you want. If you write and publish a few articles on a decent site (or good site like RealGM) that along with an email address (not a free one like yahoo gmail etc) will get you whatever you want.

Hope that helps. I think for like 20 or 30 bucks you can get all the EuroLeague games. If you search on google you can find a lot. I think Venezuela still lets you buy all league games cheap.

And yes I do it all right here in the USA!

The one and only prime example is J.R. Smith, but then again it took a year, so point well made.

The good thing about having 3 is you never know. Remember Chucky. Better that we have Carter who is very serviceable and knows the system.

When have the Nuggets had a decent rookie since Karl took the helm though? LK is the only one I think, and he wasn't very good his rookie year.

new Javtokas clips up on youtube for those interested. Spurs posters seem to think the FO would trade him for a 2nd rounder.
