lets rent a box suite at staples center!!

Post#1 » by Lost Angel » Tue Aug 18, 2009 10:59 pm

i say we all pitch in to rent out a suite for a upcoming game this season.

i have no idea how much this would cost but im guessing it wont be cheap to do so. if you are interested, sign up your name on this thread!

once i get more details, like pricing, we can see who wants to go and vote for a game. any thoughts?

i know its expensive, but if our team plays well we can get some free tacos

If I lived in LA I would definitely been in on this.

Great idea.

I'm interested.

I'd come down to who goes and which game.

But if any of the regulars go, I'd be happy to stop by and say hi.

Don't feel left out, I know there are Laker fans in San Antonio, too.

I know ST is there on location.

Watching the game on HD/TV at home with/without a couple of fellow fans is just like renting a suite and watching the game live (in arena).

Trust me, I've been to The Great Western Forum and I've been to the Anaheim arena (where the Clippers used to play) and I can tell you...

Being in a suite is pretty much like being at home.

From what I remember, the difference was just not having to prepare any food, being able to see the court from a Birdseye view, having a selection of monitors to watch the game from, etc.

Then again, I was a kid when I experienced this, so the "suite situation" might be different now. :dontknow:

Oh cool.

Umm.. you're right, it can be confusing.

Well lets put it this way.

If milesfides/davidse showed up, I'd go. :)

They were the two ppl that got me into posting here in the first place.

If enough of the "new blood" (Sedale Threatt, Deep3CL, TonyMontana, semi-sentient, anklebreaker, iamworthy, kevin_405, Kilroy, almost forgot DubaLakers, j-rob, akikobe (sp?), SoCal24, etc.) on this forum showed up, I'd go as well.

It'd be good to be around knowledge basketball fans that I know are cool. :)

I was referring to "real" Lakers fans that frequent this board and contribute to this forum to keep it running smoothly/smoother, when I said "regulars."

It comes down to dudes that were here (and joined) before 2005-2006 and the ppls that were active after 2005-2006 ("new blood").

Btw, the ppl that were here before 2005-2006 are all pretty much mods now, outside of snaq (who should get nominated/selected for mod-ship sometime in the future).

IE1:

-dcash4, Phil X (Phil_2.0), milesfides, tkb, tycobb, j-far, kno, eriks eleven, etc.

That preseason game at the Forum would be cool, I've never loved Staples like I loved the Forum.

I'm still already here and there. It helps when you have no life so you can post on here. No wife to nag you. No demanding job making you work long hours. Don't need to wake up the butt **** of dawn to drive 30 miles or more to work. Life can be good sometimes.

And I'm too much of a smart ass on the forum to be a mod. I don't think I'll be a good mod anyway.

Thanks Verbatum... 8-)

I'd be all over it if I wasn't stuck out here in Austin...
ED: the town where the cable companies don't give a **** about sports unless they're played in burnt orange...

But don't feel too bad... I'm the absolute worst person to be stuck in a room with when the Lakers are playing... My dogs hide when they announce the lineups...

But I'm probably going to be back in Whittier before too long and if you guys pull this off, it'd be about the most awesome thing ever to come from an internet forum.

I'm down for doing a suite at Staples, get the details down LA then come back and let us know. I would like to meet some of the peeps of the board in person.

Suites are great, had the pleasure of watching games a few times from them. Best ones are those that provide food and open drinks and desert cart. Had a friend who would get tickets to them from Pachanga casino (those that play alot). Very comfortable experience. Check eBay also, sometimes you can pick up individual tickets anywhere from $200-$500 each depending on the team they are playing. I have bought some before, but those didn't include food or drinks or desert cart (available but need to pay for desert).

Funny but last time I went was a couple of seasons ago, you get people in there that don't even watch the game and care less about the Lakers. A couple was spending most of the time watching Blood Diamond on the Plasma TV (before it was released on DVD, on demand etc). Total waste of tickets.

Hey hey!

I was gonna be in the area you gave me hours in advance until my guardian hijacked my vehicle. :-?

If freeway traffic wasn't horrible for Game 2 (I think it was game 2) going your way 30 mins before tip off I would have showed up.

Tried to get a hold of you but the airhead that answered the phone couldn't comprehend what I was trying to tell her to do... :nonono:

I figured if I did make it... the game would be over by then, and everyone (the few that would show up anyways) would be gone.... and I'd be sitting in traffic for 2-3 hours going to a place I don't frequent for an empty joint. :dontknow:

Since the whole setup of the meet was done on a whim and I didn't know anyone personally (or had contact info of the peeps in question) - I didn't go.

Just making sure we're clear on what transpired. :)

Yeah man.

I got free tickets to the Forum suite once.

The people I went with all ate fast food before the trip and were dumbfounded when we realized the food, drinks, etc. were all included for free.

Edit:

-Was that movie any good? I never watched the whole movie.
