Charlotte has decided to put All Star and Dream Teamer, Grandmama Larry Johnson on the block. He is in the prime of his career. All offers will be answered

There are some other errors that have been posted on the roster thread, most having to do with long term contracts that were signed.

ex. Shawn Bradley was signed to an 8-year contract as a rookie, so he is signed through 2001, not 1997. Four years must be added to his contract.

Also, I believe Larry Johnson is signed through 2001 (when he retires) from an extension he signed in 1993. His contract should have two more years on it.

Please double check your rosters for any contractual errors.

Sounds good, just making sure. I also noticed that SamBone is totally aware of LJ's contract as well. Y'all are on point so no worries!

With a doubling of salaries the demand for franchise or near franchise players has realy declined IMHO. This is the era of balloon payments and crazy extensions. I realy can see why the lockout happened looking at the landscape here. Today we muss about a MLE player who was a bust but in the era we were paying rookies allstar money hopeing they pan out and then being saddled with the dead weight if they dont and above avg players demanding to be paid what these rookie busts were getting.

If you read my roster page I wrote that
" * Larry Johnson is under contract until 2001 when he retires"

I just ran out of room on my chart

I have this yr and next. If you are looking for more yrs into the future on a certain player then you do the research. The salaries are irrelavant anyway once there contracts are up. Sure LJ got an extension but that doesnt mean the GM now has to give him that. Dale Ellis in 96 opts out and then resigns a new deal with Denver. When Ellis opts out with me I show him the door or offer him another deal at 500k. Im not giving him a 4mil per yr deal under these rules when I can find a better player for 800k.

this is the problem with this structure. Nobody knows when options are in these contracts. Some rookies signed 10 year deals nobody knows what options are in that deal.

Check ProSportsTransactions. They have most info, if not I'm sure we can have a vote.

I admit is a little tough and Im not sure whats going to happen when 2 teams offer the same player the same contract. Who decides what team he goes to?? IMHO to simplify everything I would have all players RFA so the Gm simply has the right to match(could even be match +10%) since he already has Bird rights. Since theres nobody pretending to be the players FA is a little foggy to me. Th esalary info will be meaningless by 1998 and 90% of NBA players wont be on the same deals they were historicaly. With Contraction a players value has been greatly diminished and his asking price is falling every day. Since we doubled salaries hes already looking at a 50% pay cut. Next you see how a 30% drop in teams affects a players worth. Ill use my team as an example

I added through trades and contraction 4 new starters (3 allstars) and lost my 8th man.

So now I have 4 former starters that are now bench players. My 10th-13th players are former 6th, 7th and 9th man. My former 10th-13th man are now in Europe. Whats even wilder is that I have 2 guys that started that had season ending injuries.

I now have 4 allstars on my team
I now have 12 players that started at least 30 games over the last 2 yrs. i have no need nor desire to add a player or pay a player anything more than min salary that didnt start 30-40 games in 1995. Simply put no historical bench player could make my roster.

Contraction and non expansion accounts for a reduction in 33% of players what this means by avg is that teams add 35 starters + 21 rotation players + 20 draft picks divided by 20 teams and you get 4 added players. 2 starters + 2 rotation players making 2 former starters rotation players therefore your former 6th and 7th man are now 10th and 11th man.

Salaries are going to have to reflect that and so many good bench players are now min salary players and many former satrters are now mere role players. When these players contracts are up they will be replaced by better and cheaper players. I expect the 1st few yrs will be very crazy but a new patern will show itself and things will be very easy in the new CBA.

Indiana places Chris Norris (13/5) one of Toni Kukoc (15/5/4) or Chris Mullin (19/4.5/5) and Kevin Edwards (14/2.5/2) on the block.

A better backup PG or some youth/pick option would be nice.
