Drama Queen signs with Vikings

Brett Favre won't be joining the Vikings.

Vikings coach Brad Childress told the Star Tribune late this afternoon that the quarterback informed the team he has decided to remain retired. Childress cited the daily grind both mentally and physically as part of the reason why Favre remained retired.

"I just think it was a rare opportunity to explore a Hall of Fame quarterback who had background in the NFC and in this division," Childress said. "He knows our system inside out ... This doesn't change anything about how I feel about our football team."

Favre's decision comes one day before players begin reporting to training in Mankato. Favre had told the team he would have a decision by Thursday, when players must officially report to camp. The Vikings begin practicing on Friday.

Great news.

Staying retired until he mulls over a comeback next week. Book it.

Would've been nice to tattoo his @ss to the metrodome turf but it's probably best for the Vikes and Favre's legacy if he just stays put. Should have retired a Packer and stuck to the Wrangler commercials (which I hear emperor enjoys).

Until he's inducted into the HOF and in the booth giving his aw shucks commentary, I don't believe he's gone in the least

QB meeting day 1 of Viking's training camp.

Childress to QB's: "Tavaris and Sage...we have all the faith in the world in you guys. One of you two will lead us to the Super Bowl. That whole thing with us trying our asses off to replace you with a 40 year old man, that was just a smokescreen. You're the man here in Minnesota Sagvaris Jacksonfels. Oh hey by the way, do either of you have Michael Vick's number?"

I have no respect for that man anymore. I'm sorry. At least say "Yes, I will suit up"

Not. "No, you're on your own Vikings"

"Oh wait, Jackson hurt his MCL? I'll jump on that!"

And this all makes Childress look weak, too. He set about 3 different deadlines for Favre to sign - all of which were broken - then he still calls the guy to get him in.

And now the report is Jackson is going to be traded (for no more than a 7th rd pick) or released. Talk about a camp disruption.

Yep. It makes him look untrustworthy and just a flat out liar.

I hope we thrash them this year. It just annoys me when something so dumb takes over all the Football headlines.

The Bears should be all over that. A 7th round pick? He'd make a solid backup and could give us the Queens playbook (I know it only has 7 plays in it but still)

Somehow I think the last thing they'd want to do is trade him to an inter-division rival.

The coverage of this is making me sick.

ESPN is covering Favre's 4 preseason passes as if it were the Kennedy assassination.

OVERKILL.
