New logo?

Post#1 » by kgarnett21 » Fri Aug 7, 2009 8:16 am

Hey guys, Warriors fan here.

I was wondering if your team has had any talk of a new logo coming. I really would like the Warriors to ditch the lightning theme ASAP, and I figure the best reason would be if the Thunder adopted something similar.

Any such luck (for me)? My apologies if this topic has come up before.

I've grown to like the logo, colors and jerseys.

Haven't heard anything about possible changes, sorry.

Generally the NBA doesn't like teams just changing things every year (for consistency and fans not getting mad about buying out of date merchandise).

I'm sure we'll change it at some point, but I would think it will be at least 2 years from now.

Right, and I don't blame the L for doing so. I just thought there was a glimmer of hope (for me), since maybe the Thunder look was rushed during the move. But I guess not.

I think that most would definitely agree that it was rushed, and many people said that it was the worst name/logo/colors in pro sports history. I'm sure they'll change it soon, but I think soon is still probably a couple of years away.

Anyone know what the quickest turn-around on a logo change has been? (amount of time from one new logo to the next)

I'm not sure but, the Hawks changed their logo 4 times in the span of 5 years:

I think what's interesting about the Hawks in this case is that all of their logos sucked.

These two look like high school logos. I've liked the Hawks logos with the last one posted here up 'til now. Their court is the only thing I don't like; why they didn't match the colors to those on their jerseys we may never know.

The bottom 2 logos look like something that airlines would use.

I stand by my opinion that the OKC has the worst logo created in my lifetime (Last 20 years). Looking back in the 70's and 60's there were plenty of logos that were just as bad. But again, my lifetime.

I think it's embarrassment to the NBA and the players that I have to wear it. It's beyond generic--It's atrocious. This is only my opinion. I'm sure there are some people out there that actually think this is an acceptable logo, but I couldn't possibly see why.

They need to change it very, very soon.

I agree that it isn't one of the better ones... but ultimately (as before) I just don't really care. To me it's all about the players, staff, and the basketball that is played. It seems like new names and logos are generally disliked for a bit, but then it wears off.

Fair point. I can respect that.

It's the graphic designer in me that was talking in that last post. Doesn't change how I feel though.

However, I can honestly say that OKC already has a better arena and way more fans than we have up here in Milwaukee. Staff and players is pretty similar as well. Be thankful for that.
