Seriously, you guys are going to give A-Rod **** after he just came through with 2 huge HR's in the biggest series of the year less then a week in a half ago?

The people knocking him are the same ones who probably thought his 2 homers vs Boston didn't go far enough

Not really hatin on Arod, I like how he's more of a team player this yr and not selfish. But I was just saying for a guy as talented as him I am surprised he is in the 250''s BA, it's like seeing Lebron or Kobe averaging 10ppg.

True, but looking past his BA he still has an .887 OPS and 131 OPS+. To put that into perspective, in 2004 he had an .888 OPS and 131 OPS+, and in 2006 he had a .914 OPS and 134 OPS+. He is also playing a well above average third base even with the bad hip and seems to be the only guy who attempts to steal a base other than Jeter. All in all, he is producing, but he is limited to less spurts of power and taking more walks.

In New York, every thing is held to a different standard. Alex Rodriguez's accomplishments will never be measured in April to September but in October. The Yanks changed sports forever by getting a guy named Babe to fill a stadium and bring home countless WS championships. Today, that legacy continues to be the standard.

Is it fair? No. Of course not. It wasn't fair to hate Roger Maris. It wasn't fair to hate on Reggie (maybe not). It's not fair to hate on A-Rod but when you sign for more money than God all eyes are on you.

Without looking at the defensive statistics for range and such, I still think ARod has played a good third base this season. His range going to his left seems limited, but he is still doing a good job of both charging balls and going to his right and throwing those frozen ropes across the diamond like he did last night. Off the top of my head, I can't think of too many plays where the ball got by him and I thought to myself, "Damn, ARod would've had that if he was 100%." He certainly hasn't hurt us in the field IMO.

Agreed, Arod has still played a pretty good third base. It can't be easy with a bad hip, but he's made almost all the routine plays and has added a few exceptional plays as well. That's all one can really ask.

Once again, Aceves continues to show mortality. Does he have a dead arm or have hitters caught up to him? Either way I think Girardi needs to scale his work load back. Space him out for a couple outs every 2-3 games. Using him as a long reliever all the time is flirting with Quantrill territory.
