Scouting Report: Sonny Weems?

Post#1 » by EViLMiKE » Tue Aug 18, 2009 3:34 am

Hey Denver!

Raptors fans are insane; but can you blame us? It's freaking cold here. I was hoping that a Nuggets fan could give a quick scouting report on Sonny Weems? Is there any potential there? Will he likely be waived?

Anything would be nice; especially taking into account his 55 mins of playing time last season.

He's an extremely athletic scorer, but not a good team player or defender.
That's why the Nuggets traded him away, they don't need another scorer on their bench who's constantly looking for his own shot.
He's definitely got potential though, he doesn't have many weaknesses and could become a good scoring 6th man.

His summer league play was the worst display of "basketball" I have EVER seen. He's a typical athletic type that can tear up the inferior d-league but will never, ever amount to anything in the NBA.

Think of JR Smith without the jumper and finishing skills.

Nah....Sonny is slightly smarter than J.R. That's the only thing he has on J.R. though.

Thanks for the insight. So I guess the consensus would be that a best, he's a project. Not ready for meaningful minutes, but could eventually mature into firepower off of the bench.

I doubt that he brings anything that the Raptors would be looking for. I imagine that he will be released.

Who would waste time creating a scouting report for Sonny Weems?

I'm pretty sure he won't make the final roster for the Raps anyways, probably be cut in a few days.

how are you guys coming up with scouting reports?

i'm pretty sure the 55 minutes of playing time is false....and he actually only played 5.5 minutes.
