Dylan ain't indie!

Hey, I've been listening to Frente! lately. I don't know why.

Also, never forget the quality that is Tom Waits.

Is the Silversun Pickups considered Indie? If so that's what's I'm listening to right now.

wow there's some pretty good recommendations in this thread and I'm surprised how many posters here listen to indie rock. I guess this serves as a nice counter balance to all the rap threads that have popped up recently. anyway, I ran across this when I was looking up recommendations for visiting new york: http://www.freewilliamsburg.com/h2oshows/

bill, what'd you think of bon iver?

i need some new music BAD... i've been stuck listening to the "new" cursive, grizzly bear and animal collective albums + some re-mixes of animal collective, such as http://www.maddecent.com/mp3/Animal%20C ... Remix_.mp3

anybody have any suggestions?

edit -- oh, and i've been listening to this song a lot -- a very "summer" song: atlas sound ft. noah lennox - walkabout http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QHbOg-Sd1M

Hey Moochie, how are you liking the latest Cursive album? I gave it a shot, but I think they fell off majorly after they dropped their cello player. The days of Domestica and Burst and Bloom are long gone. :(

as much as i try to tell myself 'Happy Hollow' and 'Mama,I'm Swollen' are just as good as their earlier stuff, i have to agree with you (although i still think kasher's lyrics are great). not only do i miss the cello, but it seems like they went in a pretty different direction once she left as well... who knew the celloist has so much influence?

here's an older cursive song off a japanese ep (i think) that makes good use of the cello: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8IMqCow07s
its called "Excerpts from Various Notes Strewn Around the Bedroom of April Connolly, Feb. 24, 1997"

Yeah I have that split; both songs are great. Can't speak much for the Japanese band they split with though...

If you haven't heard the song "Sinner's Serenade," its fantastic. I believe its a b-side from a single off Ugly Organ. Couldn't find it anywhere on the web to listen to for free, but its one of their best songs IMO.

Not going to link as I'm at work and can't get to myspace, but check out a couple of cool Scottish bands, both of whom have really solid albums in the last year:
The Phantom Band
We Were Promised Jetpacks

New album by the band Why? is pretty good. I know that I'm forgetting more, will have to come back to this thread.

I just heard this and thought it would be nice for this thread:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPCeA5Vl29k

it's kind of folksy- which is actually a little surprising for being on ninjatune.
