I like the move. It's exciting to see all these Michigan players wanting to come home to help turn the team around. And not bad players either, some of these guys are superbowl champs and pro bowl'ers.... they know how to play at a high level and win. At the very least, there will be a better attitude and level of competition among the roster. It's one major step in the right direction.

He's played RT mostly but can play LT too. If Schwartz is right about moving Backus to RG, we'll have Salaam, Cherilus, Jansen and Murtha fighting over the tackle positions.

ronald curry has been traded to the rams for some defensive tackle. Whatever tackle the lions got from them would probably either got cut or be on the bench.

Orien Harris.... could end up on the bench, could end up as a nice tackle option off the bench. Was worth the risk, especially since it appears that Curry wasn't in the plans going forward.

I was flipping through the channels late last night before I drifted off to sleep, and I swear I heard Don Shane claim that the Lions signed a TE due to the injuries to Pettigrew and FitzSimmons, but I can't find information on it anywhere. Has anyone else heard about this? I think the name he said was Butler(?)

The Lions have since added DT Shaun Smith (who got advice on the why the Lions would be good, from Shaun Rogers), signed some dude named Bobby Sippio (your guess is as good as mine), and cut Curtis Gatewood (???).

The Lions probably picked up Smith because of Jared DeVries' achilles injury that ends his season.

They did. Maybe its because I didn't follow it as much, but it seems like this team has been a lot more active then in the past.

Also. Add Milford Brown and Calvin Lowry, subtract Jake Nordin.

So rather then Jerseys, I'm guessing the team just hands out "My name is..." stickers.

^ Over half the team is new. Mayhew really cleaned house. That's why I don't understand how people can use last years failure to project this team. It's a NEW team, in every sense of the word.

I can understand not having high expectations, but some fans pure disgust due to last year is unwarranted imo. Let this new team play out and judge them based on them.

Not directing it at anyone inparticular, just what I've noticed all offseason so far.

SWAYZE IS BACK BIATCHES!!!!!!!!!

Hanson just had minor knee surgery, so Swayze's probably back just to practice and such for him until the seaosn starts.

I read that. I know its minor, but when you are A) a kicker whose career depends on only their legs and B) getting to be 40+, knee surgery, no matter how minor, is slightly worrisome.

I suspect as you said that Swayze is just the practice guy and an insurance plan, but that wont stop me from going to NFL.com and getting a custom Waters jersey

I hope Hanson recovers quickly, but I think him resting while Swayze dominates preseason is just fine. If Brett Favre can take the preseason off, Jason Hanson can as well.

damn

The Detroit Lions have confirmed that they have placed safety Daniel Bullocks on the waived/injured list. The Lions signed free-agent linebacker Robert Francois to take his place on the roster.

I had high hopes for Bullocks...sad to see his career probably over. Whats more shocking/disgusting that the article also discusses

Bullocks, who has been troubled by knee problems since a major knee injury two years ago, was a second-round pick in 2006. First-round pick Ernie Sims is now the only player on the Lions roster who remains from that draft.

Worst drafting team ever. Seriously.

^ Who was in charge during 2006? There's your answer.

I liked Bullocks. =-(

We're dropping players like crazy already.

Heard Delmas and CJ could play Saturday. Pettigrew still out though.
