OT: Madden 10 (PS3)

Post#1 » by MikeIsGood » Wed Aug 19, 2009 3:05 am

For us to meet up with eachother online, get some games going, and maybe a franchise sometime in the future. I think it'd be best to wait for the first roster updates and patches, first.

My skill level is probably somewhere between terrible and bad. I haven't played Madden in a long, long time. But I'm having pretty good fun so far this year.

If you post your PS3 ID in the thread, I'll compile a list in the first post for ease of use.

MikeIsGood = MikeIsGood
DrugBust = DrugBust
Flames24Rulz = Flames24Rulz
GrendonJennings = ebohl (Way to ruin a good thing)
showtimesam = showtimesammy
jimmybones = tootall21

I picked it up Sun, have yet to play it. Haven't touched my ps3 in over a year, haven't set the online play up yet but when I do I'll post my screenname.

For those of you who have it, would you say it's worth shelling out the $ for? I haven't played a new Madden game in a few years (I have last year's NCAA game) because I just got sick of paying $60 for the same game every year.

Lot of subtle changes between this year's and last year's game. I enjoy it, I think it's a good game. Worth $60? Depends if you really want the updated rosters and would like to use the online franchise feature. My biggest thing is always the franchise mode. I like importing draft classes from the latest NCAA game and having up to date rosters. Unfortunately that means shelling out $60 for a game that graphically and gameplay-wise hasn't changed much the last two years.

I'd say the biggest changes to this year's game would be

1- Presentation (who cares)
2 - Online Franchise (could be cool with people from the RGM boards or friends)
3 - Just the roster update

IMO the biggest change is the ability to alter the game speed. I wouldn't have bought it if I couldn't play on slow speed. It signiricantly alters the feel from previous Madden games IMO.

The animation changes seem nice. Took them long enough to get gang tackles.

I'm in on the franchise. I still have to pick up my copy of the game but the motivatin factor is this mode. Is there an ability to have a live draft to fill your rosters? That would be awesome ad well.

Yes, I think you can do a live draft. Not positive though.

No rush because, like I said, I think we should wait a little bit to start it up if that's okay with everyone. Would be nice to at least get the first patch out before starting.

Flames24Rulz

My PS3 is out of commission though. I'm leaning toward just waiting till September 1st to get a PS3 Slim instead of sending it into Sony for $150 to get fixed.

Interesting, thanks! Maybe I'll have to download the demo tonight (I was going to do it when I went home for lunch, but forgot) and give it a play. Unfortunately, all you guys are lame and have PS3 :wink: (kidding, not trying to start a PS3-Xbox 360 debate), so I couldn't do the online franchise with any of you, but that is kind of a cool feature.

I also like the feature where the running backs and whoever has the ball fights for yards more. Also the fumble fight feature is pretty cool.

Alright, I got it yesterday and confirmed I'm ebohl.

I'll challenge one of you guys one of these days. But we really need to get a franchise going. If we can get one with a ton of teams then I say we fantasy draft but if we play a small 8-teamer or something then maybe just regular rosters.

EDIT: Sorry to throw the user names off as I see you guys have mirror images to realGM names.

When we get a league going, I think we should have a no-Vick pact.

I dunno...

My team last year and probably this year has been the Eagles. I like to spread it out a bit and when I played last night bringing Vick in for 5 plays was just another added weapon.

One of the first things I learned from playing madden online was how to control a vick rushing oriented offense ... bring it ebohl

Don't get me wrong I don't use him regularly but for a few plays he is a nice wrinkle to add in.

That's part of the issue. It kills the fun. Oh Vick is in the game? Bring 2 CBs and wait for a sack or interception.

If the person with Vick isn't going to try to be cheap about it it's another thing. But GJ, keep in mind that we're talking about a fantasy draft, too.

Fine, we can discuss not having Vick. I understand it is lame but he has his limitations as well.

I have a proposal:

How about we get 4 or 8 of us together and start or join a league of 32? We all join 1 or 2 divisions together that way we play each other a bunch and all have common opponents.

Thoughts?
