Re: Build a Dynasty Trades and Transactions
I've talked to you Sabas before about trading picks and you said it was fine, teams can trade however many picks they want (including consecutive), but it isn't the smart thing to do.

Re: Build a Dynasty Trades and Transactions
with the length of this game I say we try to follow the NBA rukes as close as possable. Things could get really ugly if teams are ollowed to trade all their picks. People will need to do what NBA team do and trade the players rites after the draft if they traded away the previous years pick. If the Richmond trade can not be adjusted, that should be the only exception to the rule
does swapping picks count as traded picks for this?

I think the several posters who have mentioned not trading consecutive picks have a very good point regardless of creepily stashed IM snippets. Sweet.
It's the first season and there is plenty of room for tweaks to make the game better for the duration.

Well I can't actually get a hold of BlackIce. Is the trade to be allowed?

I'm right here, and I don't mind either way if the deal goes through or not, we can re work it later on if need be.

Re: Build a Dynasty Trades and Transactions
My opinion on the consecutive picks trading:
At this point, it's sort of hard to disallow it. That means a guy like Warspite can't trade ANY pick at ANY point in the future due to his pick swap option, until the swap option is exercised. Not really a fair handicap on him when we werent aware of it.

pick swap is not considered trading a pick (I believe) because the team will still have a pick. If we are playing this game, and using NBA salaries, and NBA salary caps, and NBA contract rules, and NBA trade rules, why wouldn't we also use NBA draft pick rules?

Whoa, brain fart there. You're right.
In the case, I couldn't care less one way or the other.

I would have voted for not being able to trade consecutive picks also, but I feel that all trades prior to this decision has to be allowed. Digsby keeps a log of all conversations, and you told me that I would trade with teams that trade consecutive picks, which is why I made the moves that I did.

Re: Build a Dynasty Trades and Transactions
IMO it makes sense to allow the trades that have already been posted that have consecutive picks being traded; however, I also think it makes sense to disallow trading consecutive picks for the rest of the game. I believe a team can still trade consecutive picks if they have another first round pick in that year. Another way around it is to trade the rights to a player after he is drafted.

To me that's creating an environment with unfair advantages/disadvantages and allows someone more resources than me to improve their team.

Im ok with it one way or another. I have followed that rule in all my trades and just thought it was common sense. I also dont realy see thats its a big deal. going 95/97 or 96/98 should be pretty easy from 95/96.
I also dont undestand why a team would trade away 2 consecutive picks since it has massive potential to be onesided one way or another.
The Pistons do have the right to swap picks with me but as long as I have 4 allstars in my starting lineup they have no interest to swaping picks.

Re: Build a Dynasty Trades and Transactions
I'm quite willing to make it 95 and 97 picks. Either way makes no difference to me.

Re: Build a Dynasty Trades and Transactions
Er ok so I'm assuming that because of the "consecutive picks" rule the trade is void right? Because I have another deal lined up..

Re: Build a Dynasty Trades and Transactions
Charlotte and New York have come to an agreement on a trade:
Charles Smith -------------$6,714,000
Bo Kimble---------------- $3,400,000
Denver 96 1st (det has option to swap)
Knicks 98 1st
for
Larry Johnson ------------- $8,590,000
Knicks accept, we need to go all out this season and a healty Ewing/LJ/Mason frontcourt is beyond beastly.

Charlotte accepts. it is hard to trade one of my favorite players going into his best season, but his long contract straps my future. This will allow my to max out Zo and build around him. Even though he is injured I am glad to add a fellow Philly guy in Bo (expiring makes it even better)
note: this trade happens after the 95 season so we used 96 salaries
