Artest Kobe Fallout?
Sorry, Im not a Laker fan, but I have a mate who is adamant that the Lakers are about to have a huge fall from grace with Artest coming to the Lakers. We've seen the Kobe and Ron battles lately, and do you guys think they are past it, or will the competetive juices get the better of them both leading to bad chemistry??
Prolly been talked about for sure, but what do you guys think?

No, they're usually the 2 most competitive guys on the court which is why they butt heads on opposite teams, but both respect each other tremendously. Plus Artest took a major pay cut to play with Kobe who he compares to Jordan in his head. I don't see any fallouts.

Re: Artest Kobe Fallout?
Well the so called Kobe/Ron Battles you are talking about during the playoffs, were nothing more than two Alpha Males COMPETING! Very similar to sibling rivalries or two best friends going at on the court. Not calling them the best of friends or as close as brothers, but it is a good comparison. I think there are a lot of non-Laker Fans hoping this is what causes the destruction of this team vs help build the Dynasty. I honestly do not think it was anything for them to get over it was good basketball and fun to watch. Since that time even right after that game we have heard them speak very highly of each other. The only thing I see messing up this dream team is us losing in a game and Artest trying to win it himself by working outside of the Triangle. This is Kobe's job and would possibly piss him and the rest of the team off if Artest tries this, but I highly doubt it will be an issue. So in short We will be fine/better than fine with Artest just wait and see how well we do. That combo on the floor will allow both Kobe and Artest and possibly Pau to get a lot of rest now, because of the blow out games which will also get our younger guys MORE experience. Rather than get me worried this has gotten me more excited to see this group together. Let's welcome back the Show Time style of play shall we.
“If this is his team, that means no more coming into camp fat/out of shape, no more blaming others for our team’s failure, my team doesn’t mean only when we win it means carrying the burden of defeat just as gracefully as you carry a championship trophy.”

Im sorry for being honest here, so Artest goes out of his way to tell Kobe he wants to play in LA, he takes millions less to play in LA WITH Kobe who happens to be a good friend of his, and then you pop out of no where telling us that you have a MATE who think that there is going to be battles and arguments and it will lead to bad chemistry between these two guys. Ha?
So whats is the point of this thread? In all honesty WHO CARES? Why dont we wait to see what happens? By the way, can your friend pick the next 6 lotto numbers for me while he is predicting the future?
Seriously I fail to see whats the point of this thread, you think your MATE knows more than the Lakers org, or Mitch, or Buss, or Phil????

Let's all get pissed off at this guy for asking us Lakers fans a question about our opinion of how Kobe/Artest will get along.

Okay........
He already said his buddy has told him that the Lakers are about to have a huge fall from grace/problems/bad chemistry with Artest coming to the Lakers.
I dont know if it will or it wont happen, so please share with us if you know the answers??
I like to know. I just cant see myself having an answer to a question like that, common sense would tell you to wait and maybe see after a few games or as the season goes along how these guys might adapt to one and other, but again Im cant predicte the future and I take things one day at a time.
If you have the answer I would love to know.

If they're both hungry enough for a championship, they'll put any beef aside. Phil will see to it.
See Lakers 2000-2002 and the results of that. Kobe and Shaq weren't the best of buddies yet they put their differences aside to knuckle up and get the ring. That and we all saw last year's off season vid of Artest interviewing Kobe.... you telling me that wasn't Artest man-crushing on Kobe?
I think Kobe and Artest are gonna have a bromance, the only downfall in that is that sasha would be getting Artests sloppy seconds... maybe he starts mancrushing on Gasol....

Re: Artest Kobe Fallout?
No one knows what's going to happen, but we can put all the pieces together and give an answer based on a well-formed opinion.
Heck I might get hit by an airplane hijacked by some psycho on the way home but that's not going to stop me from thinking about what I'll be doing Labor Day weekend.
To answer the question though, well, it's difficult to answer because the question is based on misinformation or a lack of understanding between the two players involved. Kobe and Artest respect each other and have wanted to be teammates for some time now. They are both extremely competitive and understand that when they're on the court it's all business. Put them on the same team and you will have a Jordan/Pippen type relationship where both guys are putting it all on the court to not only inspire the rest of their teammates but to also instill confidence in them. Their mere presence will test the rest of their teammates that they have nothing to worry about, so there shouldn't be anyone folding under pressure unless your name is Sasha Vujacic and you have a vagina. Kobe/Artest are no Jordan/Pippen, but they have very similar roles and I believe their impact on their teammates will be just as great.
So, everything will be fine. Unless it isn't.

Exactly, its very obvious Artest has good intentions of coming to LA.
He approached Kobe and told Kobe he wants to come to LA after our loss to the Cs in the finals, he took less money to come to LA, he has been training very hard, he hasnt said nothing but positive remarks about how excited he is about this up and coming season, he has praised Kobe in every possible way about his work ethics and his desire to win a championship, he has matured a lot since he has left Indiana, he has shown his leadership when he was playing in Houston when McGrady and Yao went down, Lamar is a childhood friend of his and they have played together growing up and now they are both teammates in one of the best franchises, we already know Phil J. has the ability to teach certain players that other teams wouldnt tocuh, we already know Phil J. has and will mold players to his style and concept of the game that has been very effective for him, no need to speak about Kobes part because we all know what he's capabile of doing. Look at all the ish he went through since turning pro.
So if you ask me about how I think Artest/Kobe/Lakers will do. I see nothing but positive things happening this season. A lot of positive things to come. Thats why Im not even a bit concern about Artest/Kobe/Lakers sill settle for anything other than good chemistry and championships to come out of this season.
Nobody, I mean nobody is expecting anything less than a championship from this team.

Re: Artest Kobe Fallout?
The only thing that would lead to Kobe and Artest's downfall as best friends is this guy. He might get mad that Kobe and Artest are having too much fun as friends.

Re: Artest Kobe Fallout?
the only problem that can arise is someone who artest idolize man-up to him and that guy is kobe... and since they're on the same team.. that'll be hard to do. We saw how he was when he played against kobe... now that they're on the same team.. their determine will converge and thrive mmuwahahahaha.. eh hem sorry. lost control there..
I know kobe been said to yell at his team-mates alot.. but that's the press misunderstanding that he's just trying to pump them up not trashtalking his own team mates.

Re: Artest Kobe Fallout?
I can only imagine how Kobe/Artest/Lamar will own this league if they gel together. You have the assassin Kobe, you have the enforcer in Artest, and you have the candy man in Lamar. FTW and FTC.
