Wow. 20 months minimum. Stallworth gets 24 days for killing someone while drunk. Sounds fair.

That's awesome.

I hate Plastico... And I hate Stallworth. I wish they both would have got tossed in jail.

No kidding.

I'm not trying to stand up for Plax, but I do think it's funny that as a result of shooting himself in the leg he's going to prison for two years.

In terms of the punishment fitting the crime, the sentence is an absolute joke. I find it hard to rationalize how someone who accidentally shot themselves in the leg should go to jail for 2 years. The problem for Burress, is that this decision isn't really about punishing him for what happened, although admittedly, a large portion of that is his fault. Unfortunately, he's managed to make the absolute worst of this situation.

It's rather obvious that Burress is being made an example of, in part because of his arrogant refusal to work with the DA during this whole mess. Burress has made a series of terrible decision during this whole ordeal. He assumed his Florida gun license transferred to NY, he shot himself in the freaking leg, and he refused to accept multiple lesser plea deals.

My problem is that the DA is using the letter of the law to punish Plaxico for his naivety and arrogance, not necessarily for the crime that was committed. I just don't think it's the laws place to do so.

Edit: Typo

This actually pisses me off. Only in this country can someone drive drunk, kill a guy, and get 96% less punishment than someone who accidentally shoots themselves in their **** leg.

Unfortunately for Plaxico - I think he had this happen in the bad place as from what I heard NYC has some of the most strict gun laws in the country. That's just what I've been hearing, and the fact it was unlicensed.

And to Stallworth's defense, even though he got off really light, its not like the guy killed the guy that was walking in a crosswalk. The guy jumped the barricade on a freeway and ran in front of him. And the family agreed to take the cash, and were satisified. Was 30 days light? Definitely, but I don't find what he did 100% appalling. And yes, should have he not been driving drunk? Yeah, but I'd be willing to bet that 75% of us (if not more) have been guilty of driving while over the limit, so its a bit hypocritical to say 'dont drive drunk!'.

i don't agree that stallworth should necessarily gotten a longer sentence but i do agree that plaxico's is way too long. but having a gun in nyc is a risky risky thing.
