When you’re a high school basketball player summer break means one thing: basketball camps.
As a nationally ranked high school player that means jumping from tournament to tournament and last weekend Adidas held their Adidas Nations tournament. What separates this camp from others is that players from around the globe are taking part as well. This year Adidas brought in players from Africa, Asia, Canada, Europe and Latin America to compete against two teams representing the United States.
Throw in some NBA players acting as mentors and a handful of former NBA head coaches and it’s a great opportunity for young players to learn and grow.
Robin Lopez and Eric Gordon, two of the NBA mentors working the camp, took some time out of their busy schedule to talk with me about why they were involved with the camp, what they have been doing this summer, Robin talked about the trade of Shaquille O’Neal, Eric talked about the Clippers drafting Blake Griffin, they both talked about what they learned during their rookie season, both players vowed their respective teams are aiming to make the playoffs and a wide range of topics.
