Ray Allen is gonna be 35 years old and after the playoffs I can not place him above Rondo. Did you see how awesome Rondo was in the playoffs this year? Man he was .3 boards away from a triple double average vs the bulls.
He was arguably better then Pierce in the playoffs and I think he carried them.

Re: Best big 3 (is it even close)
rondo is good dont get me wrong, but its just ONE series.
and ray allen had a better season this year then he had the season they won the championship. And yes hes 35 years old but its not like he plays using his body as an advantage. jesus is pretty much a catch and shoot player. And i think he will still be good next year

Re: Best big 3 (is it even close)
Well Mitch Richmond had to hang it up because he lost his athletism and didn't have the lift for the jumper so it's not like jump shooters are immune to it. I am not retiring Ray Allen or anything or saying that will be him heck he could be an allstar caliber player or close until 37 maybe even 38 with that team but I think Rondo grew up in the playoffs alot and I think he will get alot better.
Basically he was better in both series and I think it will continue. He shot 50% from the field and I think he was unselfish which is why Allen had better scoring stats. Rondo is also supreme on D compared to Allen. Allen's D is he makes the other player run around chasing him.

Re: Best big 3 (is it even close)
Kobe, Gasol, Artest vs Allen, Pierce, KG
they are pretty equal
considering Artest is not a superstar like the others
Kobe is still in his prime, Gasol is in his prime
while Allen is out of his prime, while KG and Pierce are getting old as well
so i will have to give it to the Lakers

I see Artest having his best year yet and could be better then Pierce but will at least be better then 35 year old Allen.

Re: Best big 3 (is it even close)
lakers are a big 4 + 6MOY contender + vet. leadership + deep bench
its kinda unfair...

Last I checked, Boston had a Big 5: Wallace, KG, Peirce, Allen, Rondo. However I still believe the Lakers youth and depth make them the best team and due for a repeat.

Orlando probably has the best 3...a tainted one at that
But LA and Boston is more like a big 4

Yeah Its hard to choose between Lamar and Artest for the last player in this teams big 3. That is why the Big 4/Fantastic 4 fits this team better.

I don't think it's hard Odom is to inconsistant. Artest is better imo. It's close though.

It doesn't matter who has the best "Big Three". All that matters is that the Lakers have the best team and look like the favorites to repeat. But its not going to be a cake walk by any means.

Re: Best big 3 (is it even close)
boston have 3 certified all-stars, providing KG is fully healthy... lakers only have 2 all-stars and 3 sub-allstars
if we're playing 3v3, id take boston's big 3
when you think matchups, lakers would have to use artest for defense against pierce and spreading the floor with his 3s...
but in the end, boston's big 3 are more versatile, have more range, and a known defensive big man protecting the basket
lakers overwhelming strength lies in their depth and versatility of their talent from 1-8 with the coaching acumen to exploit it

Re: Best big 3 (is it even close)
Yeah he is a fantastic shooter and when he was a rookie he was in dunk contests so maybe he plays like a star for a long time.
With that said allstar games don't mean anything to me. Wasn't he an alternate? I do think he will be on the decline again this year as it is just natural your gonna decline at 35 unless your MJ/Kobe. In the playoffs he was nonexsistant last year when his shot wasn't going and that was because he can't get to the rim like he used to. He also doesn't play D very well.
On the other hand Ron Artest is a fantastic defender, could have his best year this year, had an off year last year but that was due to injury and he is healthy now. He also shoots 40% from 3 and is always all nba defensive 2nd team with an ankle injury. Now he is healthy. He is also a capable 18-20 point a game scorer.
It's not like KG was there and they were so deep so the points were down for everybody they had Rondo-Allen-Pierce for most of the year and he was 2nd option.
First best of the big 3 Kobe>KG
2nd best Gasol>Pierce
3rd Artest>Allen
If it was measured on past achievements then you would have an arguement but for the 09-10 season no way. I don't even think the C's is better then the Magic's as a matter of fact I think it's Lakers 1st Magic a close 2nd and then the C's a close third

I want to see how Artest, Gasol, and Kobe play along side eachother before I pass judgement. I've seen how well KG, Paul, and Ray can play so I wouldn't put any three guys ahead of those right now.
The Lakers "Big 3" can very easily be Pau, Kobe and Bynum next year. We're that loaded. I see Artest more in the role player mode.
