Recap of Martin's Visit to Indonesia

Post#1 » by KF10 » Fri Aug 21, 2009 9:43 am

Martin wrapped up his visit to Indonesia couple of days ago. (Started from Aug. 16 and ended at Aug. 18) Both the NBA and DBL (DetEksi Basketball League) compromised the first-ever joint basketball development camp, it featured the top basketball players (men and woman) from Indonesia.. And Martin (plus other NBA assistant coaches) taught the kids a diverse set of basketball fundamentals and various life lessons as well. It was an awesome trip for both Martin and the kids from Indonesia. Here are various articles that detail his visit:

Great job Kevin!

And P.S.:

Here is an ad that advertises Martin to the All Star game next year:

If it worked with Granger (He did a similar thing i.e. hosting a camp like Martin last year. And Indonesia LOVED him. So, props to him), I hope it works for Martin ahaha.

Cool stuff, and good for Kev. Although, I am curious to see if all of those Indonesian kids start their shooting motion from their hip now.

In that tug a war pic it looks like kevin got a little bigger. I wonder if he had been working trying to gain some more muscle.

Yeah, he did workout extensively after the season (well, he took the first month off due to recovering his ankle. Which is now healthy). He is doing the same famous workout of Kobe Bryant's. Here is the article a while ago:

As always, Martin is working hard in the offseason. After staying off the ankle for nearly a month after the season, he began a routine inspired by Kobe Bryant.

The Lakers star has long been known for beginning his offseason workouts at 6 a.m., pushing himself to wake up when it's dark and arrive at the gym long before anyone else. Martin pushed the schedule back a bit, starting at 6:30 a.m. four to five days a week for much of the summer while lifting weights four days a week as well. He arrives with two of his closest friends from his hometown of Zanesville, Ohio, then executes the workout routine provided by his personal coach, David Thorpe, before returning at night for another session.

"I just decided I was getting up early to see where my dedication was because we're trying to turn this team around – the mentality on the team and the whole organization," Martin said. "Turn the lights on and then turn them off, too. That's what I'm doing this summer. It's a lot tougher than what I thought it was."
