Allen Iverson reached an agreement with Charlotte

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sat Aug 22, 2009 2:02 pm

Anyone concerned?

Dime Magazine reports that Allen Iverson has reached an agreement with the Charlotte Bobcats and the deal will become official next week.

Friday night, Dime’s Aron Phillips spoke to an unnamed source who works in the NBA and said that Allen Iverson has worked out the details of a contract with the Charlotte Bobcats, but the deal won’t be official until next week. Link

Yeah, but not too much. Why? Because with the defensive players they have (G-Wallace, Raja Bell, Diaw, and Chandler) already, an explosive take-over scorer like Iverson re-uniting with the Coach that he worked best with, could be a scary mix. You might think, "he can't do it all by himself". Well, he wouldn't have to because both Gerald is a very capable 18-20+ppg offensive player as well and Diaw is a very nice playmaker. Then you have Bell, V.Rad, Augustine that are all good shooters to spread da floor...Hmmm....

Would you be scared if Flip joined Charlotte instead of Iverson? They were essentially the same player last season...

I'm disappointed that AI didn't sign in Miami. I was hopeful that he would derail the Heat. Not sure what impact he'll have in Charlotte.

Iverson will be the main weapon on offense for Charlotte, who need to take a risk at this stage.
Brown might get the best out of him, but it doesn't mean that they have become better overnight.
AI will get his touches and his minutes. He will just take on the role Jason Richardson had before being shipped to Phoenix.

Don't underestimate AI. They got better overnight.

AI's stock is at an all-time low because Detroit gave away their pg and fell apart. It was not the addition of Iverson that sunk Detroit. It was the stupid belief that Stuckey was ready to take-over at the pg that sunk Detroit. Likewise, it was not addition by subtraction that made Denver so much better. It was finally getting a pg, a position not filled in AI's tenure. Going from Anthony Carter as their starting pg to Billups is going to help a team a lot.

Charlotte has two capable pgs, assuming they resign Felton, and a motivated Hall of Fame coach and player. They will be in the playoffs. I cannot think of a better situation for AI.

Assuming Iverson starts, who are their outside shooters?

Return to Atlanta Hawks
