Seems like an exciting player, but I haven't seen much basketball skill from him yet. Doesn't he seem to be pretty similar to Stomile Swift?

Hopefully Pops isn't as dumb as Swift, but they both seem to have similar levels of athleticism.

Pops seem more similar to Dorsey then Landry. Signing Pops just put more pressure on Dorsey to show his stuff in training camp or Dorsey may be the one getting traded or waive.

As the President of the one man Joey Dorsey Fan Club I have faith in my client to show us all this year that he is a capable NBA center

Its astounding to see all this hate on Pops. If you don't like him, ship him to ATL; we'll take him off your hands.

azuresou1,
It's not hate for Pops.
It's complete puzzlement on why he was brought in to Houston.
The following players could play PF for Hou before his signing:
Scola,Landry,Hayes,Dorsey,Cook,Andersen and Battier if team going small.
There doesn't seem to be a huge need to add to the collection, and signing him means it's likely one or two of existing Rockets is going to be traded, and they have their fans who don't see why their fav should be replaced by someone who has not exactly set the NBA on fire.

Because the Rockets will probably get Pops for a quarter of what he's worth, meaning that they can ship off two-three players for a better player in another position, thus ultimately adding value to the team?

Is anyone remotely surprised it took the Chron a day and a half to post anything about this?

GOD I'm sick of that pitiful excuse for a newspaper. (Granted, this tirade was pushed along by their 'headline' earlier today, which was basically: "Oil Industry Says Energy Reform is Baaaaad".) Crack journalists they've got over there, vomiting back industry press releases as if they were news.

So since Feigen is on vacation, Rockets news can wait for a couple of days? Is that the deal?

Gah.

Houston Press has an entire section devoted to bashing the Chron. Not that it should be a surprise, either.

GB almost knocked-off Spain at Eurobasket, and Pops has been playing well for GB.
