Personally Novak is needed to spread the floor, he moves the ball and should be our primary back-up at the 3 until futher notice. The J.J. Reddick deal is pretty much a done deal if Sessions is pulled in having Telfair and Sessions both bakcing up Baron is a chemistry war waiting to happen.

I don't see any team going after Novak, so I have a feeling he might just accept his qualifying offer for just over $1 million.

Re: Los Angeles Clippers Trade Proposals Thread
Wacky trade idea here, involving Clippers, Knicks, and Timberwolves.
First, the Knicks need to sign Sessions to some kind of multiyear, ~$4 million/year deal that on the surface upsets their plans for next year’s free agency. But all is good, as the following trade transpires:
Timberwolves get: Knicks 2011 1st round pick and a Clippers draft pick (to be negotiated; probably a 1st rounder of lesser value)
Knicks get: Telfar, the rights to Rubio, and either Madsen or Collins (I know Madsen has one year left on his contract, but does Collins?)
Clippers get: Sessions, plus an extra spot on their roster (resign Taylor?)
Advantages for all three teams here, the money comes out about even, and plus we can finally put the Sessions ordeal to rest. What do you think?

Re: Los Angeles Clippers Trade Proposals Thread
Anthony Johnson is a guy the Clippers should have on their radar as a backup PG. Orlando has to be in the luxury tax by now, maybe a chunk of the TPE and a 2nd round pick can get him. They tried to use him and a pick to acquire CJ Watson, and now with J-Will on board, maybe the Clippers can pick him up for next to nothing.
Anthony Johnson
JJ Redick
for
Sebastian Telfair
Future 2nd Round Pick
Cash ($1 million or so for taking the extra year of Telfair)
It would have to be 2 seperate deals: Johnson for Telfair, Redick absorbed with the remaining $ from the TPE and a 2nd round pick.
This is something that both teams should be interested in. The Clippers would cut $2.5 million in 2010 payroll in this deal. Magic would save $4 million in luxury tax dollars. Redick can be the Clippers 3 point specialist, Novak can walk.

Re: Los Angeles Clippers Trade Proposals Thread
I just proposed this idea on the trade board. What do you guys think?
Clippers Get: Dalembert/W. Green/Holiday/Hill
Clippers Give: Baron/Camby
The Clippers get 2 of my favorite young PG prospects and get rid of Baron's contract. Dalembert's shot blocking could help too.
Sixers Get: Baron/Mason/Bonner
Sixers Give: Dalembert/W. Green/Holiday
The Sixers try to contend with the Magic, Cavs, and Celtics in the East. They take on Baron's contract, but he has worked hard this offseason, and he could be a comeback POY candidate on PHI. Mason and Bonner are both very productive 3pt sharp shooters on expiring contracts. Plus they get rid of Dalembert's and Green's contracts.
Spurs Get: Camby
Spurs Give: Mason/Bonner/Hill
Many Spurs fans have said Camby is the missing link for them to win the championship. They would have a hole at the backup PG, but they could sign a veteran PG, such as Brevin Knight, Jason Hart, Bobby Jackson, or Tyronne Lue.

I hate giving Baron to Philly that is virtually turning them into a potential title contender.

Most Philly fans have said they don't want Baron anyway. I think we should hang on to him now, and hope he turns it around this year.

Telfair owed 5.2 mil over 2 yrs only makes 300k less this yr.
Redick on rook deal with expire, q.o., extend flexibilities, plus great trade fill bait with those options.
I agree. This deal was discussed frequently on the trade boards last month as a straight up swap.

I think its fair for the Wolves, but they'd probably decline.
The team is gambling now on high-upside guys, and Rubio really fits that definition. We don't know if he'll get there, but he'll be a very marketable player that swings the turnstyles. Plus, NYK can't trade their 2011 1st necause they alread owe their 2010 to Utah, and the Stepien Rule prohibits owing consecutive picks.

Yes, this is a wacky trade idea that the Clippers would never consider. Clippers won't give up a 1st round pick for Sessions, they can sign him with MLE money and can look to trade Telfair by himself to another team after it is completed. Knicks 2011 draft pick can't be moved since they already traded their 2010 #1 to Utah and cannot trade consecutive #1 picks.

I don't see any of the teams willing to do it. Dalembert and Kaman make too much money at one position, who would start? Spurs already have McDyess and Blair to play PF and can move Duncan to C, they wouldn't be interested in giving up some of their quality depth for Camby. Even the Sixers may pass on it, they would probably rather develop a young PG than take on Baron's contract.

Re: Los Angeles Clippers Trade Proposals Thread
Hello all, Nets/Mavericks fan here.
I wanted to gauge interest in a 3-way deal I have been thinking about for a while. I'd love to hear feedback on it:
Trade ID# 5230140
L.A. Clippers Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players: Jordan Farmar, Sasha Vujacic, Ryan Gomes ('10 expiring), '10 LAL 1st
Outgoing Players: Ricky Davis, Baron Davis, '12 MIN 1st (returned)
L.A. Lakers Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players: Ricky Davis, Baron Davis
Outgoing Players: Jordan Farmar, Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic, '10 LAL 1st
Minnesota Trade Breakdown
Incoming Players: Luke Walton, '12 MIN 1st (returned)
Outgoing Players: Ryan Gomes ('10 expiring)
Positives for LAC:
1) Move Baron's long-term deal for shorter, smaller deals and younger assets
2) Unload Ricky Davis in the process!
Negatives for LAC:
1) Potentially strengthen your archrival
2) B-Diddy could regain health, gel with Dunleavy (unlikely IMO)
I gather that your fanbase is torn on whether to trade Baron at all. Some say that this is the worst time for the franchise to move a star for spare parts, considering that they play a Christmas Day game and are spotlighted elsewhere on national TV more than ever. Others say that the Clippers need a younger floor general to build around the Gordon/Griffin core. I see deal like the one proposed recently with PHI (Baron/Camby for Dalembert/Green/Holiday), and I feel that mine is superior. Farmar/Vujacic are better than Green/Holiday IMO, and the swap of a one-year $10mil backup C for a two-year $10mil backup C doesn't sound good for a team that has an eye on 2010.
So, what do you think?

I don't know about this deal. You should've asked us before we picked up Butler and Craig Smith. I like Gomes but he and Smith are pretty similar, but Smith has a much smaller deal. (Hoopshype has Gomes with 4 years left). Sasha isn't as good as Butler and has a worse contract.
After this deal, would we still have cap space to sign Sessions? I don't want Farmer as the #1 PG.

I cannot argue with you: Vujacic < Butler, it's true. But he could at least pick up some backup SG minutes, and his deal only runs for two years.
Ryan Gomes has a TEAM option on his contract after the '09-'10 season. He is completely unguaranteed, making him essentially an '10 expiring.
As for capspace, this deal actually shaves about $4mil from your current cap figure, so it would not impede your efforts to sign Sessions.

EDIT- on second thought, I didn't see our MIN first returned. Without it I like the deal, but I don't think I would do it with the future first included. Also, the Lakers traded their '10 First to MEM in the Gasol trade.

Clippers trade Al Thornton ($1.9 mil), Ricky Davis ($2.4 mil), Mardy Collins ($1.87 mil), Minny pick.
Minnesota trades Ricky Rubio ($2.7 mil), Corey Brewer ($2.9 mil), and Henk Norel (minimum).
Instead of trying to sign Rudy Gay next year (can't understand why Minnesota is talking about that now), Minnesota gets a starting small forward who will flourish in the running game and as a primary or secondary scorer (behind Al Jefferson). Thornton is stuck in his rookie contract for the next 3 years, so Minnesota doesn't have to worry about him bailing on them yet. On top of that, David Kahn reacquires the Minny pick. Minny's going to be awful in the next two years and that pick that the Clippers currently own may be a referendum on the job that he's doing.
Clippers get their star player in Ricky Rubio that they were trying to acquire with Allen Iverson.
Clippers point guards: Baron Davis, Ricky Rubio, Sebastian Telfair.
Clippers small forwards: Rasual Butler, Corey Brewer, Steve Novak (and Craig Smith)
Clippers can bring Ricky Rubio along slowly. If he blows up, the Clippers can try to trade Baron Davis to Philadelphia or Houston.
David Kahn has already stated a preference for Jonny Flynn (his comment about GMs agreeing that they had Flynn rated higher than Rubio) and he has gone on record as saying that he didn't see Rubio and Flynn playing much together, which contradicted his earlier statement at the time of the draft that they will play together.
