Smills-

I think he meant greatest sports quote you ever heard. Its frustrating to have someone putting quotes like yours on this post and pictures of our president in clown make-up on your sig. All these things are just a way for you to push your beliefs on others who post on the board. You can deny it all you want, but your location says obama's lies=US demise. I believe in freedom of speech, but I also believe that those type of quotes, etc. should be saved for a discussion board on those issues, not realgm.com. I just feel it is a lack of respect for others beliefs. Ive read quotes where others have gone against you on issues and you don't allow them to get a word in edge wise. Yet we have to read the sutff on your sig, etc. everytime you post. Just check all your beliefs at the door when logging in to realgm. Its not necessary.

Mods can delete this if you want, or they can look at the issue in a different light. I could put on my sig that republicans suck and atheism rocks. But, I don't because this is realgm.com, not the Iowa Caucus.

Now, favorite sports quote of all time for me is:

"We couldn't do diddly-pooh offensively. We couldn't make a first down. We didn't run the ball. We didn't try to run the ball. We couldn't complete a pass. We sucked. We sucked. It was a horseass performance in the second half. Horseass!"

"Playoffs?! Don't talk about playoffs! Are you kidding me? Playoffs?! I'm just hoping we can win a game, another game!"

"Basketball is a game played by men competing for the ultimate prize"
-Bill Walton

"Stroke it, big man!"
--Bill Walton, referring to Arvydas Sabonis as he nails a jumper.

"He even flew in his hairdresser, Celeste, so not only does Jermaine ONeal look pretty, hes looking to play pretty tonight."
-- Bill Walton

"You look at Vladimir Radmanovic, this guy is cut from stone. As if Michelangelo was reading and a lightening bolt flashed before him."
-- Bill Walton

It doesn't get much better than that my friends. Bill Walton is the single greatest broadcaster our generation has ever seen. Its as if hyperbole himself came down and gave him his blessing.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

allen iverson:

"If I can't practice, I can't practice. It is as simple as that. It ain't about that at all. It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about practice. We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about practice. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game last it's my last but we're talking about practice man. How silly is that?

Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I honestly do but we're talking about practice. We're talking about practice man. We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about practice. When you come to the arena, and you see me play, you've seen me play right, you've seen me give everything I've got, but we're talking about practice right now."

THANK YOU for saying that...i've mentioned it in the past because this isnt a political board, its an NBA board. it'd make more sense talking about the dallas cowboys here, at least it has to do with sports...

The thread is "Greatest quotes you have ever heard." Don't get butt hurt when someone posts their "favorite quote". Don't hate the poster, hate the thread.

I don't understand the sensitivity. I am pretty damn moderate politically (and that doesn't mean I'm uninformed, like most people who claim to be moderates) and I just don't understand some people's sensitivity to politics.

I don't want to dive too far into this (maybe too late) but I don't believe Bush was a good president. Making fun of Bush (our President) became part of pop culture. HOWEVER when Obama takes office, the moment he gets made fun of NOW everyone is playing the "Hey that is OUR PRESIDENT, how dare you!" card.

Just a humorous observation I have made.

Well there certainly needs to be a balance that's for sure. I would say there needs to be some level of respect, but at the same time this board has been getting softer than the NFL.

im not sensitive when it comes to politics. u can say whatever you want about bush/obama or make stupid little avatars or whatever, but my point was that this is a basketball board and talking about anything besides the NBA seems pointless on here. like i said, i wouldn't make a topic talking about the dallas cowboys on here, would i? no, because it wouldn't make any sense to

I feel like you complaining about it is lack a of respect for his beliefs. He's not forcing you to believe what he believes. If you don't like it, ignore it, or move somewhere where free speech is limited. There's even a feature where you can block Smills' posts if you want.

Anyway, a few of my favorites-

"Progress doesn't come from early risers – progress is made by lazy men looking for easier ways to do things."
-Robert A. Heinlein

"Erst denken, dann lenken." (First think, then steer.)"
-German Proverb (know your proverbs!)

"Without music life would be a mistake."
-Friedrich Nietzche

"They that give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
-Benjamin Franklin

"Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost."
-Thomas Jefferson

I might add a few more later.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, oh good old Bill Walton. I still can't believe that he hasn't come out of the closet.

See my last quote....If you don't like it, that's fine, you don't have to. But I'll defend my beliefs(politics, religion, BASKETBALL, whatever it is) to the end. You don't have to like it, just realize, that's how it is.

I just don't understand why we must take any discussion or topic towards politics. I'm a pretty political guy, but I don't know why people consider this the place to discuss that. I mean, I wouldn't go to a Politics form and start sprouting off about Tyreke Evans.

I like my sig line. Walsh was listening to a scout describe a line backer propect and the scout kept saying, "He can't do xxxx and he can't do xxxx".

KB
"I don't want to hear what he can't do. Tell me what the player can do to help us." Bill Walsh
