R-Test as an Allstar??

Post#1 » by TonyMontana » Wed Aug 26, 2009 12:35 am

So the question is, obviously we are concerned on how R-test is going to do now that he is a Laker, but seeing how Phil has done a good job with other players headcases or not. Do you think that Artest has what it takes to maybe become an Allstar this year?

I think he does, I think if he has his ish together and performs at his highest level I think he does have a very good chance to become an allstar this year.

Also what areas of his game do you guys think he needs to work on to get to that level?

Your thoughts.

If the Lakers start the season on fire, Artest is going to be a big reason for it. That means for sure he'll be an all-star. @ his position I can only think of Carmelo and Richard Jefferson who would get fan votes along with Artest.

Hmmm I'm more hoping for Defensive POY... but I'm sure he'll be named Pirates favorite player since Arrrrrvidas Sabonis.

On twitter, he talks a lot about straight out locking down players. He's getting the defensive mindset going.

bynum probably has a better shot at making the all star team than artest. i mean, melo didn't even have a spot last yr so next opening goes to him.

That should help the allstar chances. If he is talking about locking down players and last year he seemed slowed im thinking he got healthy lean and will be back locking down the quick guys again in that case allstar for sure.

Odom have a (much) better chance of being an allstar.

I highly doubt a sixth man Lamar Odom has a better chance of making the all star team than a starting Ron Artest.

No because its not SF its F

Dirk, Duncan, Pau, Amare, Mello, Durrant, Aldridge, Boozer, West, Howard, Randolph (will prob get mins and stats this year) Griffin, Gay, Jefferson

Thats a lot of guys for him to get in there past and considering how spread out our touches and stats will be this year... no way

If we get a third (Kobe is a lock, Pau is almost a lock)

It will be Bynum because of the C shortage

Is it possible if Artest plays better then ever his polularity grows and he gets voted in as a starter?

Probably Durant, Melo, Duncan,Dirk will lead votes but you never know.

Well one thing I've learned is never piss off the LA fan base..

See AC Green starting over Malone

but realistically it won't happen, I think 4 all stars have only happened once and that was that 05 piston team that just came off the chip and that was odd because 1 they were all very even talent wise and 2 the east was really weak with start talent. Even then I think Hamilton and Prince had to be chosen by the coaches...

BTW correct me if I'm wrong but Phil can't coach the allstars this year right because he did it last year?

The scray thing is ARTEST HAS MORE SENSE THAN ARIZA!!!! What player wouldn't want to start for the defending champs for the same $, only a L O S E R.

At least when JJ left the Suns were only a contender, at least when Marbury left KG it was because he didn't know if the 2 of them could get it done... Ariza knew he had a chance to win more chips but didn't care because he doesn't care about winning. He doesn't care about his hometown like Billups. Winning Ariza RIP this new guy is the BIGGEST LOSER (AND IDIOT) OF THE NBA.

I would be more concerned if a guy with that me-first-I-want-more-shots-even-if-it-means-losing attitude were on a championship level team. Why do the media guys think any contending team would be better off would a guy like that on the roster? THEY MUST BE IDIOTS TOO!

For Artest to be a all star kobe has to do a lot less than what he is used to doing and Artest will probably have to score at 18-19 ppg or more..

i seriously doubt that Artest is going to average more than 15 ppg, mostly because we have too many offensive weapons... also defense alone cannot get him into the all star.. Plus he will not get a lot of votes either from the fans or the coaches because of his history...

But do we really care.. even a 15ppg production will make him a very effective 2nd or 3rd option and with a decent (not necessarily great) defense he will fill his role and could really be the all star from a Lakers repeat point of view..

My greatest fear is he just has one of his breakdowns and takes the courtside seat chairs and trashes someone.. I know phil cant stop that, remember Rodman had his harddisk failures in Chicago too so lets just hope Zoloft or welbutrin works for artest, while we are at it if he does decide to trash someone i am all for beating up KG the p*ssy..

Truth be told, most get in because of the combination of good stats, on the right team (winning), position availability, and popularity. But there are always a few on each all-star roster that make you go "what the f***?". Injuries (Yao), suspensions, and fan votes factor (Iverson over whoever) in to an open slot. The western conference forwards positions have been stacked for YEARS so Artest might have to be in the WTF category.
