DENVER (AP) -- Reserve center Johan Petro has resigned with the Denver Nuggets.

Petro appeared in 27 games for Denver last season, starting 10 times and averaging 2.2 points and 2.3 rebounds. He also appeared in 10 playoff of the Nuggets' playoff games as they reached the Western Conference finals.

Petro has career averages of 5.4 points and 4.3 rebounds in 270 games with the Nuggets and Oklahoma City/Seattle franchise. He was traded to the Nuggets from the Thunder on Jan. 7 for guard Chucky Atkins in a deal that also involved draft picks.

I'm actually quite happy with this news. I think Johan is young and has not perfected his game by any means, but brings energy and shotblocking off the bench. Now if we can just get him to put on a little weight....

We need to sign Wally, and have room for one more big - Madsen, maybe? Not sure who is left out there to sign, but we could use some big bodies...

don't mind this.

still young, with an ok jumper. solid defender as well. seemed to have no problem with his role.

i agree that he needs to pack more muscles.

Min contract i assume. If so this is a good move. Hes still young and has a bit of experience if needed to fill some minutes.

The Denver Post said that it was a minimum deal for a year, I am glad that he will be coming back, the Nuggets needed a big man to stash away on the bench and Petro already knows his role with the team.

We needed a 5th big, and while I did not think he looked like much in the time he was on the court he is still young and could develop into something. Not to mention it seems that he will be happy with his role, which is what you want out of your 5th big.
