yeah it's from the same 2007 issue. He's always been in the news, screwing up. I think the NBA is a little light on suspensions compared to the NFL. He's lucky he only got 7 games plus he's been a mess off the court.

when he had his twitter account open many thought he had gang related issues:

"In some of his Twitter updates, the NBA baller would replace Cs with Ks, an act critics said could be associated with the Bloods.

Some of the tweets read like "Vegas here I kome!" and "Kant wait to get bak in the swing of things." After serving a 24-day sentence for a reckless driving charge that resulted in the death of his friend Andre Bell, Smith posted, "I just kame home. ... I kouldnt have done it with out yall.""

I don't think there is any law against being in a gang and playing in the NBA at the same time.

What gang is Deron in that promotes overuse of the exclamation point?

Bethlehem Shoals had a great take on the JR Smith Twitter episode:

Nope, but there is no law against drinking either but it is one step short of against the law and JR already proved when he has one step left to take he took it.

And anyways why does an NBA player need a gang, he has all the attention and money he needs to attract any kind of friends out there. It's his choice. He is just being foolish if I can say so myself, and I'm glad he is a Nugget and not a Jazzman

glad someone agrees with me. You start putting yourself in situations like that..although legal, eventually someone is going to get hurt. It's basically what the NFL is trying to do. Make professional athletes act professional.

I think a reckless record (multiple ), killing someone in a car crash (his friend) and getting 7 game suspension...? he got off easy. Try that in the NFL and he'd be gone for a season. Reminds me of that Cleveland browns WR that is in jail now, I know apples to oranges and that I think was a DUI but still another woops shouldn't have situation. Sorry I just don't put up with guys like JR smith.

Anyway they won't be as strong without him for 7 games but I think he deserved more, but that's the NBA's choice.

Which is why it's very unlikely he is in a gang.

and I'm glad he is a Nugget and not a Jazzman

Jazz fans cheered long and loud for DeShawn Stevenson when he played well and didn't seem to care about the image he presented or what he did to 14-year old girls.

She claimed to be 18 at the time and he had just turned 20. Give the dude a break.

This ^^^ is exactly my point. When it's a Jazz guy it's no big deal; let's give the guy every benefit of the doubt. But when it's the other guy then everything he does proves he's a gangster who's trying to get thrown out of the NBA.

Deshawn...
Which is exactly why he isn't a Jazzman anymore. Thank goodness to all that is great the Utah's front office doesn't accept that kind of behavior even if they do have NBA talent. That is what makes Jazz teams so dominate over the last 20+ years. There are tons of talent out there that respects the community at large.

And btw it really is different if the other party caused it due to lying.

Man, if you don't think Jazz players are doing crap like this you are being ignorant. Lets not forget the old Millsap/Brewer gangbang in Portland that almost landed both of them in prison from rape allegations. Also Torrey Ellis says hi!

I actually HAD forgotten about those allegations in Portland. I googled it and read the recap from the Portland papers. That could have been a PR disaster for the Jazz.
